WE GOT A LITTLE RAIN OVERNIGHT LAST NIGHT.
THEN, EARLY THIS MORNING IT STARTED RAINING AGAIN...AND IT HAS BEEN RAINING A LITTLE ON AND OFF THROUGHOUT THE DAY. AND IT WAS COOL TODAY. EVERYONE'S HAPPY OF COURSE.

THE DEWITT GIRL'S SOFTBALL TEAM IS GOING TO THE STATE SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT FOR THE FIRST TIME. THEY PLAY NEXT TUESDAY NIGHT AT FORT DODGE AND WE ARE MAKING PLANS TO BROADCAST THE GAME.

PRESTON HAS A NEW POLICE CHIEF. MAYOR STEVE RITENOUR APPOINTED CHAD GRUVER AS CHIEF, TO REPLACE HIS DAD, CURT. CURT ANNOUNCED LAST WEEK T HAT HE WOULD RETIRE SEPTEMBER 10TH.
CHAD IS CURRENTLY THE CHIEF AT SABULA.

RICHARD CURRENT, AGE 63, OF MAQUOKETA WAS DRIVING NORTH ON HIGHWAY 61 SUNDAY NIGHT AND A DEER JUMPED OUT OF THE DITCH AND LANDED ON THE HOOD OF HIS CAR. DAMAGE ESTIMATE, AROUND
$3,000 TO HIS 97 DODGE. HE WAS NOT INJURED.
