I DID A 6 MINUTE AUDIO YESTERDAY(THURSDAY) ....AND NOW FOUND OUT...IT DID NOT GO UP ON THE WEB....DARN IT.
BUT...YOU NEVER KNOW...IT MIGHT STILL POP UP.

WEATHER HAS BEEN "YUCKY"...WET AND COLD...A HALF INCH THURSDAY MORNING AND ANOTHER HALF INCH THIS MORNING. MORE FORECAST FOR TODAY. SUNDAY, WEATHER SHOULD BE BETTER AND WE SHOULD BE BACK IN THE 70'S NEXT WEEK.

BANK ROBBERY AT WHEATLAND YESTERDAY AFTERNOON...HE GOT AWAY WITH CASH.

NEXT WEDNESDAY NIGHT, THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP BANQUET IS GOING TO BE HELD AT THE METHODIST CHURCH SOCIAL ROOM AND TWO $1,000 SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDE. IN JUNE WE AGAIN HAVE OUR SENIORS BAND CONCERT AND ICECREAM SOCIAL.

THE MEN'S BOWLING ASSOCIATION HELD THEIR ANNUAL BANQUET WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY CLUB. THE SPONSOR OF THE YEAR, HOWARD RICKELS. JOHN RINGEN WAS MADE AN HONORY MEMBER. NAMED TO THE HALL OF FAME, THE LATE KEITH CROCE OF MAQUOKETA, WHO DIED AT AGE 38 IN APRIL. DALE KLOFT GAVE SOME VERY NICE INDUCTION REMARKS AND KEITH'S PARENTS WERE PRESENT, ALONG WITH HIS BROTHER AND SISTER. KENT SIMMONS RETIRED AS PRESIDENT AND THE NEW PRESIDENT IS DAVE SCHNOOR.

FRANK RANDALL OF MAQUOKETA MADE THE NEWS AGAIN THIS WEEK. THE SUPERVISORS HAVE RECEIVED MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT HIS PROPERTY ON THE IRON BRIDGE ROAD, AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE CLEANED UP. ONE NEIGHBOR SAID IT LOOKS WORSE THAN A FEW MONTHS AGO WHEN DISCUSSION WAS HELD AT A MEETING. SUPERVISOR BUCK KOOS SAID IF NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT THE ISSUE, IT WILL MAKE A MOCKERY OF THE NUISANCE ABATEMENT ORDINANCE THE COUNTY HAS.

BOTH THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS AND BOYS HIGH SCHOOL GOLF TEAMS ARE DOING WELL AGAIN THIS SEASON.

SPEAKING OF GOLF, THE MANAGER OF THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY CLUB IS LEAVING AGAIN. I'D SAY THEY HAVE HAD ABOUT 10 MANAGERS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. AND MEMBERSHIP IS DOWN.
LOTS OF GOLF COURSES....TOO MANY....IN THE AREA. THE NEW COURSE (PRAIRIE CREEK) IN MAQUOKETA IS GROWING (ADDING HOLES ) AND ALL KINDS OF HOMES ARE GOING UP OUT THERE.

THE DEWITT NOON LIONS CLUB AND TIPTON LIONS CLUB....BOTH ARE LOOKING AT GETTING A LIONS CLUB GOING IN MAQUOKETA AGAIN. MORE LATER.

AROUND $7,000 HAS BEEN RAISED SO FAR IN THE MAQUOKETA POLICE DEPARTMENT DRIVE TO GET A K-9 DOG FOR THE DEPARTMENT. LOOKS LIKE IT WILL HAPPEN, BUT A LOT MORE MONEY WILL HAVE TO BE DONATED BY CITIZENS. MAQUOKETA AND JACKSON COUNTY HAVE REAL DRUG PROBLEMS AND HAVING ANOTHER DOG WILL CERTAINLY HELP.

ITS FRIDAY THE 13TH....DON'T WALK UNDER ANY LADDER. OR, HOPE YOU DON'T SEE A BLACK CAR CROSSING YOUR PATH.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.

DENNIS VOY
