YESTERDAY, FIRST DAY OF SPRING WAS PRETTY NICE.
TODAY, PARTLY SUNNY ....STILL COOL IN 40'S. FORECAST FOR THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS ISN'T A VERY SPRINGTIME ONE. EVERYONE IS WAITING FOR SOME 60 DEGREE WEATHER.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT.

GOT AN EMAIL FROM DAILY REPORT READER LYNN SNOWDEN SAYING THAT LUKE AND AMY SNOWDEN, BOTH FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA, HAD A BOY MARCH 19TH. THEY LIVE IN HENDERSON, NEVADA WHERE LUKE
IS THE PASTOR OF A CHURCH. HE WAS NAMED ADAM AND HAS AN 18-MONTH OLD SISTER EMMA. GRANDPARENTS ARE JERRY COSTELLO OF MAQUOKETA AND JIM AND LYNN SNOWDEN OF LAS VEGAS,

IN THE MISS MAQUOKETA RIVER PAGEANT LAST SATURDAY NIGHT IN MAQUOKETA, THE WINNER WAS GRETCHEN DAVISON, DAUGHTER OF DON AND SHARON DAVISON OF MAQUOKETA. SHE WILL NOW BE IN THE MISS IOWA PAGEANT IN JUNE. SHE IS A GRADUATE OF IOWA STATE WITH A BACHELOR OF ARTS IN DIETETICS AND SHE PERFORMED A LYRICAL BALLET. SHE WAS ALSO THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE WINNER. EVENT WAS HELD AT THE NEW OHNWARD CENTER.

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT.

JULIE AND JONAS KEIM OF MAQUOKETA HAD A BOY MARCH 16TH AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. GRANDPARENTS ARE JOHN AND TERI CLARK OF MAQUOKETA.

THE CITIZEN OF THE WEEK THIS WEEK IS KENT CRAWFORD, LONGTIME BAND TEACHER AT MCHS. HIS PICTURE AND STORY WILL BE UP ON THE WEB LATER TONIGHT OR TOMORROW. SEE IT AT www.maquoketa-rotary.org

MERLE HARRIS, 76, DIED MARCH 13TH AT BOONE, IOWA. HE WAS THE FOOTBALL COACH FOR MCHS FROM 1955-1957. HE HAD AN UNDEFEATED SEASON HERE IN MAQUOKETA, I BELIEVE IN 1957. THEN HE WENT TO BOONE TO TEACH AND COACH AND DID SO UNTIL RETIRING IN THE EARLY 1980'S. HE IS SURVIVED BY A DAUGHTER IN STORM LAKE AND FOUR SONS AND EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN. THANKS TO JODI MOREHEAD FOR LETTING ME KNOW ABOUT THIS. HER FOLKS ARE LEN (ALSO A FORMER MCHS FOOTBALL COACH) AND MARY JANE MOREHEAD. JODY LIVES IN ESTERO, FLORIDA.
