THE HIGH TODAY WAS 29, WITH CLOUDY SKIES. SLEET IN FORECAST TONIGHT, TOMORROW AND TOMORROW NIGHT.

IN WEEKEND SPORTS. THE MAQUOKETA BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOST TO WATERLOO HERE AND THE GIRLS LOST UP THERE. THE WRESTLERS PLACED 8TH IN THE BENTON TOURNAMENT.

A MAQUOKETA MAN, JUSTIN HOFFMAN, 18, IS IN JAIL ON CHARGES OF ALLEGEDLY SELLING DRUGS.
HE WAS ARRESTED SATURDAY NIGHT BEHIND SOME APARTMENTS ON EAST PLATT STREET.

ANOTHER CHURCH BURLGARIZED.....THIS TIME, THE UNITED PENTICOSTAL AT LOCUST AND NIAGARA AND TAKEN IN THE SUNDAY MORNING BREAKEN WAS $50 IN CASH. LAST WEEK, THERE WAS A BURGLARY AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH.

IN COURT NEWS, ALFRED VOZENLILEK, 70, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS CHARGED WITH ASAULT WHILE DISPLAYING A DANGEROUS WEAPON, A KITCHEN KNIFE WITH A BLADE LONGER THAN 5 INCHES.
THE INCIDENT OCCURED FRIDAY NIGHT IN AN APARTMENT ON WESTERN AVENUE.

THE 2ND ANNUAL RADIO-THON ON KMAQ-FM FOR THE SUNSHINE SCHOOL WILL BE ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH. LAST YEAR, $33,000 WAS RAISED AND THIS YEAR'S GOAL IS $40,000.

THERE'S A MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT.

BETTY MCKINNON, AGE 72, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED SATURDAY AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL.
SHE WAS A HOMEMAKER AND IS SURVIVED BY 4 CHILDREN, INCLUDING ROGER BOWLING OF MAQUOKETA, AND A SISTER, DORIS EHL OF MAQUOKETA.

CLIFFORD CASTEEL, 97, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED SATURDAY AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL.
IN THE 30'S HE HAD A GROCERY STORE IN MAQUOKETA AND THEN WORKED AT VARIOUS OCCUPATIONS OUTSIDE MAQUOKETA OVER THE YEARS. HE AND HIS WIFE EDNA RETURNED TO MAQUOKETA IN 1978 TO MAKE THEIR HOME. HE IS SURVIVED BY A SISTER-IN-LAW, DOROTHY RASMUSSEN OF MAQUOKETA.

PAUL FORST, AGE 80, WHO OWNED A SHOE STORE IN MAQUOKETA IN THE 60'S AND 70'S, DIED LAST FRIDAY AT HIS HOME IN LAS VEGAS. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE IN LAS VEGAS (HIS FIRST WIFE BETTY LIVES IN IOWA) AND TWO SONS.
