WE HAD SNOW ON THE GROUND THIS MORNING. LIGHT SNOW AFTER MIDNIGHT AND EARLY THIS MORNING, LESS THAN AN INCH, AND IT DID NOT LAST LONG.
BETTY SWIETER, 77, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED SATURDAY AT HER HOME.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY 2 SONS, JOHN OF PLANO, TEXAS AND JIM OF FRISCO, TEXAS.
ALSO 3 GRANDSONS AND TWO SISTERS, DOROTHY KELCHNER OF MAQUOKETA AND ELAINE WIER OF DAVENPORT.

FORMER KMAQ PART TIME HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ANNOUNCER, DAVID MOORE, AND SON OF KMAQ SALESPERSON, NANCY MOORE, HAS BEEN NAMED A WENDT CHARACTOR SCHOLAR FOR THE 2004-2005 ACADEMIC YEAR. HIS PARENTS ARE DAVID AND NANCY MOORE OF SOUTH MAIN STREET. EACH WENDT SCHOLAR RECEIVES A $4,000 AWARD. DAVID IS A SENIOR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE. THOSE WHO RECEIVE THE ANNUAL AWARD HAVE DEMONSTRATED THE ACTIVE APPLICATION OF THE VIRTUES OF TRUTHFULNESS, HONESTY, FAIRNESS AND THE GOLDEN RULE IN THEIR LIVES. CONGRATULATION DAVID!
