SUNNY TODAY, HIGH IN MID 40'S.

TWO NEW FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS IN NEWS TODAY. THE FORMER SUNRISE FAMILY RESTAURANT ON SOUTH MAIN HAS RE-OPENED AS MAQUOKETA FAMILY RESTAURANT. OWNER IS JOSE ALVAREZ OF CHICAGO AREA. HE WILL FEATURE BOTH AMERICAN AND MEXICAN FOOD.
AND, LUKE HAYLE AND TONY SCHMIDT ARE OPENING THE GNOMAD CAFE SOON, ON NORTH MAIN STREET. IT WILL BE A COFFEE SHOP AND CYBER CAFE. COMPUTERS WILL BE IN THE CAFE FOR PATRONS TO USE THE INTERNET. THEY WILL SERVE A VARIETY OF COFFEES AND BAKERY ITMES, AND MAYBE LATER, DELI SANDWICHES.

THE VFW VOICE OF DEMOCRACY RADIO SPEECH WINNER THIS YEAR IS AUBRIE
CARINDER, A SENIOR AT MCHS, AND DAUGHTER OF BILL AND KATE CARINDER OF MAQUOKETA. HER SPEECH, ON TAPE , (RECORDED HERE AT KMAQ AND JUDGED BY A PANEL OF JUDGES HERE ALSO) WILL NOW ENTER IN COMPETION ON THE DISTRICT LEVEL NOVEMBER 20TH.

A BIRTH. A BOY BORN NOV. 11TH TO PAUL AND SUSAN FIX, WHO LIVE IN A SUBURB OF MINNEAPOLIS. GRANDPARENTS ARE RICHARD AND FAY FIX OF MAQUOKETA.
THEY NOW HAVE 2 BOYS AND 2 GIRLS.
