NO RAIN OVER THE WEEKEND....NICE WEATHER....TODAY, PARTLY SUNNY AND HIGH OF 83 AND WE HAVE
90+ WEATHER COMING AT MIDWEEK, THEN COOLER AGAIN THIS WEEKEND.
 
THE GREAT JONES COUNTY FAIR STARTS TOMORROW NIGHT WITH FREE PREVUE NIGHT AND THEN THE FIRST FULL DAY OF THE 5 DAY RUN IS WEDNESDAY....ALL AT MONTICELLO.
 
LAST MONTH, THERE WAS A MOCK-JAIL "FUND RAISER"  FOR MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY, HELD AT KRISTINO'S PIZZERIA IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA.       AND IT WAS A SUCCESS.              THE TOP 3 FUNDRAISERS WERE:
LAURA HORST OF THE EAST CENTRAL SCHOOL, MILES/SABULA, $1,810.....LINDA WELLS OF BLUFF LAKE CATFISH FARM, $846.....AND NANCY MOORE OF KMAQ, $615.00.
 
MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD...AND CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT.
 
THE PRAIRIE CREEK GOLF COURSE DRIVING RANGE POP MACHINE WAS HIT BY BURGLARS FRIDAY NIGHT. SOMEONE CUT THE LOCK ON THE DOOR AND ALSO DAMAGED THE MACHINE ITSELF AND AND UNDERTERMINED AMOUNT OF MONEY WAS TAKEN.
 
COURT NEWS:    MICHAEL DEAN SCHULZ, 42, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS CHARGED EARLY SUNDAY MORNING ON HIGHWAY 61 WITH OWI, DRIVING WHILE LICENSE BARRED AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHENALIA.
VICTOR VELEZ TORO, AGE 33, OF MAQUOKETA WAS CHARGED YESTERDAY AFTERNOON WITH DOMESTIC ABUSE-6TH OFFENSE.
 
DOLORES JEAN WITT, AGE 76, OF MAQUOKETA AND FORMERLY OF IOWA CITY, DIED YESTERDAY AT FINLEY HOSPITAL IN DUBUQUE.   SURVIVORS INCLUDE A BROTHER IN MAQUOKETA, ALBERT WITT.
 
THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL BOYS LOST THEIR FIRST TOURNAMENT GAME  SATURDAY  NIGHT TO 2ND RANKED DAVENPORT ASSUMPTION, 8 TO 1,  TO END THEIR  SEASON.              THEY DIDN'T HAVE A WINNING SEASON, BUT A LOT OF YOUNG PLAYERS ON THE TEAM WILL BE BACK NEXT SUMMER.
