THE MAQUOKETA OPTIMIST CLUB FLY-IN BREAKFAST YESTERDAY, WITH BEAUTIFUL WEATHER, WAS A BIG SUCCESS. OVER 50 PLANES FLEW IN FOR THE BREAKFAST (THE PILOT EATS FREE) AND THEY SERVED A TOTAL OF OVER 700 MEALS, NOT A RECORD, BUT ONE OF THE BIGGEST TURN-OUTS IN MANY YEARS. GOOD PANCAKES...GREAT SAUSAGE OFF THE PORK PRODUCER'S GRILL. TWO OF MY GRANDCHILDREN TOOK A HELICOPTER RIDE.
THE JACKSON COUNTY PUBLIC HOSPITAL BOARD MEETS TODAY AND ONE OF THE MAIN ITEMS ON THE AGENDA, DICUSSION ON POSSIBLE 4,5 AND 6 PHASES OF CONSTRUCTION, WHICH WOULD INCLUDE A NEW ENTRANCE AND A NEW BUILDING FOR MAQUOKETA'S DOCTORS. NOTHING AT ALL DEFINITE ON PHASES 4, 5 AND 6.

TIMOTHY RABINEAU, 29, OF ANDREW AND FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA, WAS CHARGED WITH OWI, DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED AND CARELESS DRIVING.
ERIC AND AMY SCHOTLAND OF KANSAS CITY, ARE PARENTS OF A BOY BORN LAST MONDAY. GRANDFATHER IS BILL MOLER OF MAQUOKETA.
NELLIE DOTY, 75 OF CLINTON, DIED LAST TUESDAY. SURVIVORS INCLUDE A BROTHER, WILBUR GROVER OF MAQUOKETA.
LORRAINE STARMAN, 75, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED TODAY AT THE MAQUOKETA CARE CENTER AFTER A BATTLE WITH CANCER. SHE OPERATED A BEAUTY SHOP IN MAQUOKETA FROM 1976 UNTIL RETIRING IN 1990. HER LATE HUSBAND WAS A GAS MAN HERE IN TOWN AND SURVIVORS INCLUDE DAUGHTER DEBORAH OF FORT DODGE AND SON BARRY OF LONG GROVE AND 2 GRANDCHILDREN.
NICOLE CLAUSING OF MAQUOKETA (HER MOM ROXANNE WORKS HERE AT KMAQ AS A SALES REP) IS GETTING MARRIED JULY 24TH IN WAVERLY, TO GREGORY HERROLD OF ELDORA. SO, LOOKS LIKE I MAY BE GOING TO A WEDDING THIS SUMMER.
SHE JUST GRADUATED FROM UNI AND WORKS AT THE FAREWAY STORE IN SPENCER AND HE ALSO HAS A DEGREE FROM UNI AND IS THE ASSISTANT MANAGER AT THE FAREWAY STORE IN EMMETSBURG. HER DAD MIKE WORKS AT THE ENGINEERS OFFICE AT THE COURTHOUSE IN MAQUOKETA.
GEN BOWMAN OF MAQUOKETA CELEBRATED HER 90TH YESTERDAY. SHE AND HUSBAND, JUNIOR BOWMAN, WERE IN THE CATTLE AUCTION BUSINESS FOR MANY YEARS HERE IN TOWN, AS OWNERS OF BOWMAN CATTLE COMPANY AND LATER UNITED LIVESTOCK AUCTION. HE DIED IN THE EARLY 80'S. DAUGHTER BARB IS A RETIRED BUSINESS OWNER OF DOWNTOWN LADIES APPAREL STORES.
ISABELLE HAMBELL CELEBRATED HER 98TH BIRTHDAY SUNDAY. SHE LIVES AT THE MAQUOKETA CARE CENTER.
BROOKE BYAM, WON! SHE GETS TO FLY WEST FOR AN AUDITION FOR THE AMERICAN IDOL TV TALENT SHOW. SHE SAID SHE WILL GIVE ME DETAILS WHEN SHE GETS INFORMATION.
BUS TRIP TO BRANSON WENT WELL....ALL HAD A GOOD TIME. WEATHER THERE
WAS A LITTLE WET AT TIMES. I EVEN GOT CALLED UP ON STAGE FOR A BIT PART AT THE DUTTON FAMILY SHOW. YUP...I WAS A HIT.
WHILE GONE, MAQUOKETA HAD A 3-INCH RAINFALL IN A SHORT TIME, CAUSING SOME FLOODING OF STREETS IN MAQUOKETA. I BELIEVE IT WAS LAST WEDNESDAY.
