ANOTHER NICE DAY..HIGH OF 80
THE DELMAR MAYOR, PAT KOOB, VERBALLY RESIGNED AND WALKED OUT OF THE JUNE 2ND COUNCIL MEETING AFTER THE COUNCIL OVERODE A RESOLUTION HE HAD VETOED.
A PUBLIC MEETING HAS BEEN SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT IN DELMAR TO APPOINT A NEW MAYOR.
AT THE HOSPITAL BOARD MEETING IN MAQUOKETA LAST NIGHT, MEMBERS DECIDED TO DELAY PHASES 4,5 AND 6 FOR A FEW YEARS AT THE HOSPITAL. THE 3 ADDITIONAL PHASES WOULD HAVE INCLUDED A NEW ENTRANCE AND AN OFFICE COMPLEX FOR ALL OF MAQUOKETA'S DOCTORS. THE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT JUST COMPLETED COST NEARLY $10 MILLION DOLLARS AND THE ADDITONAL PHASES WOULD HAVE COST AN ESTIMATED $6 MILLION DOLLARS MORE. CEO CURT COLEMAN SAID BOARD MEMBERS AGREED TO MOVE THE SPECIALTY CLINICS AND OUTPATIENT AREA OF THE CURRENT H0SPITAL FROM THE EMERGENCY ROOM AREA TO A NEW VACATED ICU AREA. HE SAID THIS MOVE WOULD CREATE MORE PRIVACY AND MORE ROOM FOR OUTPATIENTS WHEN BEING TREATED. NO TIMETABLE WAS SET FOR THAT MOVE.
THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL TEAM LOST A DOUBLE-HEADER TO BELLEVUE YESTERDAY.
BETSY AND MIKE HAND OF ST. PAUL ARE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN YESTERDAY IN THE TWIN CITY. MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS ARE BOB AND ANN OSTERHAUS OF MAQUOKETA.
ONE DUCK WINNER IN THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY DUCK RACE MONDAY NIGHT LIVES IN MICHIGAN. HIS PRIZE WILL BE MAILED TO HIM THIS WEEK. HE WAS THE MOST DISTANT WINNER.
