SHE WORKED FOR THE FISHING TACKLE COMPANY FORF 4 YEARS...CLINTON ENGINES FOR 17 YEARS AND THEN LEINBAUCH'S CLOTHING STORE FOR 5 YEARS UNTIL RETIRING.
EDITH GURIUS, 84, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED THURSDAY AT CRESTRIDGE NURSING HOME.
SHE OWNED AND OPERATED GURIUS GARDENS AND GREENHOUSE IN MAQUOKETA FROM 1957 TO 1967. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND, DON, AND A DAUGHTER, MARJORIE FLAGEL OF MADISON AND 2 GRANDCHILDREN.
THE MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD IS INTERVIEW TWO FINALISTS FOR THE PRICIPAL JOB...THE TWO STILL IN CONTENTION ARE DAN MARBURGER, WHO ONCE WAS WITH EAST CENTRAL IN MILES AND IS NOW THE PERRY HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND THE OTHER FINALIST IS BILL WATTERS, NOW THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT WESTERN DUBUQUE.
THE SCHOOL BOARD THIS WEEK ALSO GAVE THE GO-AHEAD FOR A NEW $225,000 TRACK UP BY THE HIGH SCHOOL AND SIX NEW TENNIS COURTS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL...BOTH PROJECTS BADLY NEEDED AND ON THE WANTS LIST FOR A LONG TIME.
THE ARC ... NEW GYM AND SWIMMING POOL PROJECT... NOW HAS A NEW WEB SITE...www.arearecreationcenter.net.
