SUNSHINE TODAY...43 THE HIGH. TOMORROW, BACK TO THE 50'S FOR ONE DAY ONLY.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MET LAST NIGHT FOR A BUDGET HEARING AND THE JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVIORS HAD THEIR BUDGET HEARING THIS MORNING.....AND BOTH BOARD WILL BE RAISING TAXES NEXT YEAR A LITTLE, BECAUSE OF STATE CUTBACKS. NO ONE SPOKE, AT EITHER HEARING, AGAINST THE RAISES.

THREE ACCIDENTS OVER THE WEEKEND IN CLINTON COUNTY AND ALL THREE DRIVERS WERE CHARGED WITH OWI.

PRESTON POLICE CHEIF CURT GRUVER, FORMER MAQUOKETA RESIDENT, GOT INVOLVED IN A CASE OF AN ASSAULT VOER DOG DOO-DOO IN MILES. GRUVER CHARGED LORAS FELTES, 48, LAST FRIDAY MORNING FOR ASSAULT. GRUVER SAID CAROL WINTER WAS WALKING HER DOG IN MILES AND FELTES ACCUSED HER OF ALLOWING HER DOG TO DO ITS
NECESSARY IN HIS YARD. SHE THEN SHOWED HIM A PLASTIC BAG OF DOG DOO-DOO SHE WAS HOLDING AND DENIED IT. THE CHEIF SAID FELTES GRABBED CAROL WINTER AROUND THE NECK AND SHOOK HER. SHE DROPPED THE BAG OF DOO-DOO AND LEFT. CHIEF GRUVER CHARGED FELTES AND FOUND THE DOG DOO-DOO BAG IN THE FELTES CAR.

I THOUGHT YOU'D GET A KICK OUT OF THE ABOVE STORY EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT A MAQUOKETA STORY.

A BOY WAS BORN LAST TUESDAY TO CLARISSA VOZENILEK AND TROY SAMS OF MAQUOKETA. THE GRANDPARENTS ARE PENNY VOZENILEK AND MIKE HANKINS OF MAQUOKETA AND DOUG AND MAELENE SAMS OF MAQUOKETA.

HERBERT MITTELSTAEDT, AGE 87, FORMERLY OF WISCONSIN, DIED YESTERDAY AT THE CRESTRIDGE NURSING HOME
IN MAQUOKETA. HE WORKED ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE AT CLINTON ENGINES FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND ALSO WORKED FOR IOWA CONCRETE PRODUCTS IN MAQUOKETA. HE IS SURVIVED BY 6 CHILDREN, NONE AROUND HERE.

ELSIE SHAW WON THE KMAQ RADIO BINGO GAME TODAY...THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A MONTH.

THANKS FOR CHECKING IN AGAIN TODAY....AND IF YOU HAVE A DOG.....GO OVER THE DOG DOO-DOO RULES WITH HIM OR HER TONIGHT.

DENNIS VOY
