IT IS OFFICIAL, THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA WILL SELL THE CLINTON ENGINES OFFICE BUILDING AND SOME LAND AROUND IT, TO THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY, FOR THE APPRAISED PRICE OF $37,000. THEN, DURING THE NEXT 18 MONTHS OR SO, THEY CITY WILL GRANT MOST OF THE MONEY BACK TO THE SOCIETY FOR REPAIRS ON THE BUILDING. THE CITY COULDN'T SELL THE BUILDING FOR A DOLLAR AS THE SOCIETY IS NOT A CITY ORGANIZATION AND THEY HAD TO GET APPRAISED VALUE DOLLARS FOR IT. BUT, NOTHING SAYS THEY CAN'T GRANT IT BACK.
KMAQ IS GOING TO DO A RADIO TELETHON FOR THE SUNSHINE SCHOOL AND DAYCARE CENTER IN MAQUOKETA, WHICH IS IN NEED OF FUNDING HELP TO KEEP IT OPEN AND HELP BUILD ITS SCHOLARSHIP FUND. NO ONE OWNS THE BUILDING AND THE SCHOOL, SO IT BELONGS TO THE CITIZENS OF MAQUOKETA. IT HAS 140 KIDS USING IT NOW. THE RADIOTHON WILL ALSO BE BROADCAST ON THE LOCAL ACCESS CHANNEL 18.....ON SUNDAY, MARCH 21ST, FROM NOON UNTIL 6 P.M. THE GOAL FOR THE DAY, $50,000. KMAQ STAFF WILL HOST THE SHOW ALONG WITH THE SUNSHINE BAORD AND STAFF, WITH SOME HELP ALSO FROM THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB.
