SUNNY AND WARMER TODAY, WITH A HIGH OF 34. COLDER TOMORROW THEN WARMER AGAIN ON FRIDAY.

THE MAQUOKETA BOYS, RANKED 9TH, LAST NIGHT BEAT DYERSVILLE BECKMAN UP THERE, 66 TO 33. TYLER KRUEGER WAS TOP SCORER WITH POINTS. ADAM HEPKER AT 18.

HERE, THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS DEFEATED DYERSVILLE, 75 TO 34. BRITANY DAVIS HAD 17 POINTS.

MIKE COTTON, COUNTY AUDITOR THE PAST 20 YEARS, FROM SABULA, ANNOUNCED THIS WEEK HE WILL SEEK RE-ELECTION. AND SHERIFF RUSS KETTMAN SAID HE WILL SEEK A THIRD TERM. ONLY OTHER OFFICE UP THIS YEAR, IS THE SUPERVISOR POST NOW HELD BY DAVE KENTALL OF RURAL BELLEVUE. NO WORD YET ON IF HE WILL RUN FOR RE-ELECTION.

A TRAFFIC STUDY FOR WEST PLATT OUT BY THE NEW DICK'S SUPER MARKET AND GASSER TRUE VALUE HARDWARE STORE, HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND THE FIRM THAT DID IT, H.R.GREEN AND COMPANY, SAID THE CITY HAS A COUPLE OPTIONS. RE-STRIPE THE INTERSECTION TO ALLOW FOR LEFT TURN LANES OR ASK THE IOWA D.O.T. FOR ST0P AND GO SIGNALS, WHICH WOULD END UP COSTING THE CITY ABOUT $150,000.
MOST COUNCIL MEMBERS AGREE, THAT SO FAR THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM OUT THERE BUT THAT THE STRIPPING SHOULD BE DONE TO MAKE THE SITUATION EVEN BETTER THAN IT IS NOW. THIS ALL HAPPENED AT A COMMITTEE MEETING THIS WEEK AND THE ENTIRE COUNCIL WILL MAKE THEIR DECISION AT NEXT WEEK'S FULL COUNCIL MEETING.

MAQUOKETA SCHOOL STUDENTS AND STAFF NEXT SUMMER WILL START SCHOOL ON AUGUST 26TH, A WEEK LATER THAN SCHOOL STARTED THIS PAST SUMMER.
AND, CHRISTMAS VACATION WILL BE SHORTER THAN IN THE PAST. THESE DECISIONS WERE MADE THIS WEEK AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING WHEN THEY APPROVED THE 2004-2005 CALENDAR. GRADUATION DAY 2005 WILL BE ON JUNE 5TH.

FOR THE RAGBRAI BIKE RIDERS OVERNIGHT EVENT IN MAQUOKETA JULY 30TH.

RUMOR HAS IT, BUDDY JEWEL, NEW YOUNG COUNTRY MUSIC STAR, WILL BE AT THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR THIS SUMMER. AND RUMOR HAS IT, OLDER COUNTRY MUSIC STAR, WILLIE NELSON WILL BE AT THE JONES COUNTY FAIR THIS SUMMER.

THE HAWKEYES AGAINST THE BADGERS TONIGHT.....GO IOWA. BUT THEN, SINCE
I ONCE ATTENDED WISCONSIN (AND WAS BORN AND RAISED THERE)..IF THEY SHOULD WIN....I'LL STILL BE HAPPY. THE GAME OF COURSE WILL BE ON KMAQ-FM.
