A FOUR YEAR OLD DELMAR GIRL DIED LAST NIGHT AROUND 10:30 AS THE RESULT OF A HOUSE FIRE IN DELMAR, WHICH APPARENTLY IS BEING CONSIDERED SUSPICIOUS, AS THE DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION AND STATE FIRE MARSHALL HAVE BEEN CALLED IN. THE GIRL IS EVE PETERSON, AGE 4, AND THE DAUGHTER OF DAMON PETERSON AND SHALENE POTENZO, WHO LIVE AT 214 LINCOLN AVENUE IN DELMAR.
THE HOUSE SUSTAINED ONLY SMOKE DAMAGE. THE BODY WAS TAKEN TO MEDICAL EXAMINER'S OFFICE IN DES MOINES FOR AN AUTOPSY.

TWO PEOPLE WERE STABBED DURING AN ARGUMENT AT HEARTLAND MOBILE HOME PARK IN MAQUOKETA SATURDAY EVENING. TWO MEN ARE IN THE JACKSON COUNTY JAIL ON CHARGES INVOLDING THE STABBING AND ARE BEING HELD ON CASH BOND.
ONE OF THE VICTIMS, DANIEL RINIKER, JR. IS LISTED IN STABLE CONDITION AT A DAVENPORT HOSPITAL, AFTER BEING AIRLIFTED THERE FROM THE LOCAL MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL. THE OTHER VICTIM, IS ONE OF THE TWO BEING CHARGED. HE IS RYAN RENFROW, AGE 24, OF MAQUOKETA. THE OTHER BEING HELD IN JAIL IS WILLIAM BENTON, 44, OF LOST NATION. RENFROW AND BENTON WERE AT RENIKER'S HOUSE SATURDAY NIGHT AND AN ARGUMENT BEGAN. DURING A SCUFFLE, BENTON STABBED RENFROW IN THE UPPER ARM RESULTING IN A FIVE-INCH GASH. HE WAS TREATED AND RELSEASED AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. BENTON ALSO STABBED RENIKER SEVEN TIMES AND THE MOST SERIOUS WOUND WAS IN THE CHEST.
ASSISTANT POLICE CHIEF CRAIG JACKSON SAID THEY STILL DON'T KNOW THE REASON FOR THE FIGHT AND ARE STILL INVESTIGATING. RENFROW WAS ARRESTED SATURDAY NIGHT AND BENTON (APPARENTLY LEFT THE SCENE SATURDAY NIGHT BEFORE OFFICERS ARRIVED) AND WASN'T ARRESTED UNTIL LAST NIGHT.

MAQUOKETA FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO NASHVILLE, JUST EAST OF MAQUOKETA, WHERE SOMEONE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON WAS TRYING TO START AN OLDER MODEL SNOWMOBILE AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. FIREMEN QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED THE BURING VEHICLE.

IN COURT NEWS: HEATHER SHEPHARD, 29, MAQUOKETA, WAS CHARGED AFTER SHE GRABBED HER LIVE-IN BOYFRIEND BY THE NECK LAST NIGHT ON PERSHING ROAD.
