SUNSHINE PRE-SCHOOL AND DAY CARE HAS A NEW DIRECTOR. JENNIFER CONNOLLY, A LONGTIME SUNSHINE EMPLOYEE, HAS BEEN NAMED INTERIM DIRECTOR. THERESA HAUMANN RESIGNED LAST WEEK AFTER SERVING IN THAT POSITION FOR ONE YEAR.
"A SEASON OF LIGHTS" HELD LAST WEEK AT THE CLOVER RIDGE ASSISTED LIVING PLACE ACROSS FROM WALMART, IN MAQUOKETA, RAISED $1,600 FROM THE SALE OF TREES, WREATHS AND LUMINARIES. ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE 2ND ANNUAL EVENT WILL GO TO THE MAQUOKETA AREA FOUNDATION. THE OPEN HOUSE WAS HELD LAST THURSDAY THRU SUNDAY. A NICE HOLIDAY EVENT IN MAQUOEKTA. KATHY MILLER, MARKETING PERSON FOR CLOVER RIDGE, DID ANOTHER BANG-UP JOB ORGANIZING THE EVENT.
BERTHA HOUSE, AGE 93, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED YESTERDAY AT CRESTRIDGE NURSING HOME. SURVIVORS INCLUDE
2 DAUGHTERS, JOYCE GOARCKE OF MAQUOKETA AND MARILYN WILSLEF OF PRESTON. ALSO TWO SONS, ZELLUS OF MAQUOEKETA AND KEITH OF MOLINE, AND A SISTER, LULA, IN HOUSTON TEXAS. AND, 15 GRAND AND 37 GREAT, AND 15 GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. SHE WAS A HOMEMAKER AND DID HOUSEKEEPER WORK AND FOR MANY YEARS, WAS OUR CLEANING PERSON HERE AT KMAQ. SHE LIKED TO BAKE AND ESPECIALLY AT CHRISTMAS, WE ENJOYED HER
BAKED GOODS.
