WENT TO BOB EGGERS BENEFIT YESTERDAY AT THE FAIRGROUNDS. HE HAD A RARE BLOODCLOT ON HIS SPINAL CORD AND IS SLOWLY RECUPERATING. NEARLY 11-HUNDRED HAD DINNER YESTERDAY AND THEY ALSO HAD A SUCCESSFUL AUCTION.
DURWARD GOHLMANN, 91, DIED SATURDAY AT LOCAL HOSPITAL. FUNERAL IS TOMORROW AT CARSON'S. HE WAS A FARMER, THEN SOLD INSURANCE. WAS ACTIVE IN HIS CHURCH AND COMMUNITY.
HE AND I WERE LONGTIME LIONS CLUB MEMBERS AND HE WAS FAMOUS FOR HIS GOOD JOKES AND ALWAYS DID VERY WELL SELLING RAFFLE CHANCES. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, IRENE, SON MERLYN OF MAQUOKETA, SON GAYLN OF GRINNELL, DAUGHTER MYRNA LARKEY OF MAQUOKETA, DAUGHTER MARLENE HICKS OF WHEATLAND, AND DAUGHTER KATHY BECKER OF MAQUOKETA...ALSO 23 GRAND CHILDREN AND 42 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. GOOD GUY!
MERLE REYNOLDS WON OUR LICENSE NUMBER DRAWING TODAY, FOR $13.20, KMAQ'S AN FREQUENCY IN CASH. WHEN HE STOPPED IN FOR MONEY HE TOLD ME THAT HE AND EVELYN WILL CELEBRATE THEIR 57TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY THIS THURSDAY, THANKSGIVING DAY.
