THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA GOT A GRANT FOR $15,000 TO PLANT TREES AND SHRUBS ALONG SUMMIT STREET IN THE OVERPASS AREA.

THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL IS GETTING NEW COMPUTER SOFTWARE. PREPARE YOURSELF. A COST OF $241,251. HOWEVER, FINLEY HOSPITAL WILL PAY FOR IT....AND JACKSON COUNTY PUBLIC HOSPITAL WILL PAY AN ANNUAL MAINTENANCE EXPENSE OF ABOUT $100,000. HEALTHCARE!!!!
BIG BUCKS EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING HERE IN MAQUOKETA. THE HOSPITAL EXPANSION PROGRAM IS NOW 64% COMPLETE. FINISH DATE IS NEXT MARCH OR APRIL. THE SKILLED NURSING UNIT WILL BE FINISHED IN OCTOBER.

COURT NEWS: SHERI HAIAR, AGE 35, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS SENTENCED TO 5 YEARS IN PRISON, SUSPENDED, ON CHARGES OF POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, MARIJUANA, WITH INTENT TO DELIVER. SHE WAS PLACED ON TWO YEARS PROBATION...AND FINED $1,000.

BOY, BORN AUGUST 28TH IN MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL TO BILL AND ANDREA RICH OF MAQUOKETA. GRANDPARENTS ARE BILL AND SANDY RICH OF MAQUOKETA.

IRMA GREVE, AGE 93, OF DEWITT DIED YESTERDAY. SURVIVORS INCLUDE A SISTER, ESTHER SELLNAU OF MAQUOKETA.

EVELYN GERARDY, AGE89, OF BELLEVUE DIED THIS MORNING. SURVIVORS INCLUDE A SISTER IN MAQUOKETA, AUDREY HEIM.
