90 TODAY AGAIN. TWENTY DAYS WITH NO RAIN. NOT GOOD FOR THE CROPS AND LAWNS. THERE IS A CHANCE FOR SOME RAIN TOMORROW AND TOMORROW NIGHT.

THE JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVIORS PAY THE HUMAINE SOCIETY $65 PER ANIMAL DROPPED OFF AT THE SOCIETY, THAT WAS FOUND HOMELESS HERE IN THE COUNTY. RECENTLY, THEY RECEIVED A BILL FOR A MOTHER AND 5 KITTENS AND ARE NOT SURE THEY WILL PAY THE $390 BILL. THE MANAGER OF THE SHELTER, NICK MEYER, AND A COUPLE BOARD MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY, WERE AT THE SUPERVISORS MEETING THIS MORNING, PLEADING THEIR CASE.
NO FINAL DECISION WAS MADE, BUT THE SUPERVORS CLAIM IN THE PAST, THEY HAVE PAID FOR THE MOTHER CAT ONLY, NOT KITTENS. THE SOCIETY IS SHORT OF MONEY.

THE ONE-FOOT SHORT WALL AT CARDINAL SCHOOL WILL PROBABLY END UP COSTING THE CONTRACTOR, CRESSEY AND ASSOCIATES, AROUND $13.500.

DOUGLAS BEAN, AGE 50, OF MAQUOKETA, RECEIVED BURNS AFTER HIS DUMP TRUCK'S BRAKES FAILED AND OVERTURNED YESTERDAY AFTERNOO NEAR HIGHWAYS 61 AND 64. HE WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. THE TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE AND IT WAS PUT OUT BY THE MAQUOKETA FIRE DEPARTMENT.

NO BIRTHS OR DEATHS.

THANKS FOR THE VISIT.

DENNIS VOY
