WINDY AND COOL TODAY...IN THE LOW 60'S. PARTLY SUNNY SKIES.

A LOCAL BUSINESS WAS ROBBED TODAY OF MORE THAN $500 IN CASH. THE ALLEGED ROBBER WAS CAUGHT AND NO ONE WAS INJURED. AT 9:51 THIS MORNING, A MAN
WALKED INTO SPAIN OIL COMPANY ON SOUTH MAIN AND TOLD THE CLERK HE PLANNED TO ROB THE BUSINESS. THE CLERK, NOT IDENTIFIED, LEFT THE STORE AND SAT IN
HER CAR AND CALLED 9-1-1. THE MAN OPENED THE CASH REGISTER AND EMPTIED IT. THE CLERK TOLD SOMEONE OUTSIDE THAT THE STATION WAS BEEN ROBBED AND ASKED HIM TO FOLLOW THE CAR. HE DID. THE SHERIFF DEPUTIES AND MAQUOKETA POLICE FOUND THE MAN ON THE COUNTY LINE SOUTH OF TOWN, A SHORT TIME LATER.
STEVE CULLETT,AGE 28, OF DAVENPORT WAS ARRESTED WITHOUT INCIDENT.
HE HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH SECOND DEGREE ROBBERY AND IS BEING HELD IN THE JACKSON COUNTY DETENTION CENTER. CHIEF BRAD KORANDA SAID MORE THAN
$500 WAS TAKEN AND IT WAS ALL RECOVERED. HE SAID NO WEAPONS WERE SHOWN AND
NO ONE WAS INJURED.

ON THE POLICE BLOTTER: MARY RUPP AT 917 CARDINAL DRIVE REPORTED THIS MORNING THAT SOMEONE HAD EGGED THE FRONT OF THEIR HOME.
SARA MARBURGER SAID SHE HIT A DEER THURSDAY NIGHT AT 116TH STREET AND
435TH AVENUE. NO INJURIES REPORTED.

MARY GODDARD, AGE 94, OF CLINTON AND FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA, DIED THIS
MORNING AT THE MERCY NORTH HOSPITAL IN CLINTON. ARRANGEMENTS ARE
PENDING AT THE CLINTON CHAPEL OF SNELL-ZORNIG FUNERAL HOME AND
CREMATORY IN CLINTON.

MAQUOKETA TOOK THIRD PLACE IN THE WAMAC VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT YESTERDAY.

MAQUOKETA WILL HOST WESTERN DUBUQUE TONIGHT IN FOOTBALL. THE CARDINALS
ARE 6 AND 0 AND WESTERN DUBUQUE IS 5 AND 1. THE GAME WILL BE ON KMAQ-FM
TONIGHT AND ALSO ON OUR WEB SITE.
