MONDAY DAILY REPORT

SUNNY AND HOT TODAY....IN THE MID 80'S.
THIS KIND OF WEATHER IS FORECAST FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK.

FRIDAY NIGHT, THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL FOOTBALL TEAM DEFEATED
CASCADE, 53 TO 0.    IT RAINED DURING MOST OF THE GAME.
THIS FRIDAY NIGHT, THE CARDS TRAVEL TO MACHESTER.    THE HAWKS
ALSO WON BIG LAST FRIDAY NIGHT.

THIS PAST SATURDAY MORNING, SHORTLY AFTER 1 A.M....A BOLT OF LIGHTNING EXPLODED A TREE ON THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY CLUB COURSE.     IT SHATTERED THE BIG TREE AND MANY SAY IT WAS
THE LOUDEST "BANG" THEY HAVE EVER HEARD IN MAQUOKETA.
I SLEPT THROUGH IT.

THE FISH FRY SPONSORED BY THE JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL
SOCIETY YESTERDAY LATE AFTERNOON WAS A BIG SUCCESS.
IT WAS HELD TO RAISE MONEY FOR A NEW SHINGLE ROOF FOR THE LAMOTTE NARROW GUAGE RAILROAD DEPOT MOVED TO MAQUOKETA
NEAR THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM THIS PAST JUNE.
YESTERDAY, FROM 4 UNTIL 5, DAVE KENDALL GAVE A PRESENTATION ON THE
BELLEVUE TO CASCADE RAILROAD, WHICH WENT RIGHT PAST WHERE HE LIVES TODAY AND HOME OF HIS ANNIE'S ACRES STRAWBERRY PATCH.
I SUGGEST YOU CONSIDER HIM TO GIVE A PROGRAM AGAIN, AT YOUR CLUB.
THE FISH FRY WAS HELD INSIDE THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM AND
OUTSIDE IN A LARGE TENT.    THE MAQUOKETA FOOTBALL TEAM SUNDAY MORNING HELPED OUTSIDE WITH SETTING UP FOR THE FISH FRY.
I'M GUESSING THEY SERVED AROUND 250.

MAQUOKETA POLICE OFFICER KEENAN MEINEKE INVESTIGATED A 2-CAR ACCIDENT FRIDAY NIGHT, INVOLVING SANDRA MILLER-HAMMERAND, AGE 48,
AND DAKOTA MANNING, AGE 22, BOTH OF MAQUOKETA.  SANDRA WAS
GOING NORTH ON 200TH AVENUE WHEN DAKOTA ENTERED ON TO 200TH FROM 17TH STREET,  TURNING LEFT, WHEN SHE HIT SANDRA.
NO INJURIES AND DAKOTA MANNING WAS ISSUED A CITATION.

ONE OF THESE TICKETS IS THE SILENT AUCTION ITEM THIS WEEK
ON THE ROTARY HOME PAGE, WHICH YOU CAN GET TO FROM
 THE KMAQ HOME PAGE.

OVER 50 PEOPLE ENJOYED THE "OPERA" SATURDAY NIGHT AT MAQUOKETA ART EXPERIENCE.   AND I WAS TOLD,  THE MEMBERS OF IT ENJOYED
PRESENTING IT IN MAQUOKETA AND APPRECIATED THE MAQUOKETA
AUDIENCE RECEPTION.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK.

MAQUOKETA OPENS THE SEASON TONIGHT AT GOODENOW FIELD, AGAINST
CASCADE, A NON-DISTRICT GAME.    SOPHOMORE GAME AT 5 AND THE VARSITY AFTER, AT AROUND 7:30, DEPENDING ON THE SCORING IN THE FIRST GAME.    MATT CLARK WILL HAVE THE GAME ON KMAQ-FM AND ON OUR WEB SITE STARTING AT 7:20.    WE HAVE TEN STARTERS  BACK FROM LAST YEAR, INCLUDING AT QUARTERBACK, BUT LAST YEAR'S TEAM WON JUST ONE GAME.
COACH KEVIN BOWMAN IS ENTERING HIS 10TH SEASON.

MONARCH BUTTTERFLY TAGGING WILL BE EVERY SATURDAY AFTERNOON
AT 1 P.M. STARTING TOMORROW AND THROUGH SEPTEMBER, SPONSORED BY JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION AND HELD AT THE HURSTVILLE

TAGS WERE ORDERED THIS YEAR FOR TAGGING THE BUTTERFLYS THAT LIVE ONLY 8 MONTHS, MIGRATE OVER 2,000 MILES AND SPEND THE WINTER
IN MEXICO.     ALL ARE WELCOME TO HELP SATURDAYS.

TOOK THIS PHOTO YESTERDAY OF A PAINTING BY G GOODENOW, SEE
RIGHT HAND CORNER.   I REMEMBER G GOODENOW.   YOU MIGHT ALSO.
SHE WORKED IN OFFICE FOR MANY YEARS AT G.L. STOCKHAM AND SON CONTRACTORS IN MAQUOKETA AND HER HUSBAND GEORGE WORKED FOR
CLINTON ENGINES IN MANAGEMENT.    GEORGE I KNEW BECAUSE I WAS
IN ROTARY WITH HIM AND GEORGE HAD PERFECT ATTENDANCE AT ROTARY FOR I THINK OVER 30 YEARS....MAYBE MORE.    I KNOW HE IS NO LONGER
LIVING BUT I AM NOT SURE ABOUT GERTIE.     THEY HAD NO CHILDREN.
AND I DID NOT KNOW SHE ENJOYED PAINTING.

HAVE A NICE WEKEND.

GO MAQUOKETA CARDINALS.
KEEP GOING ST. LOUIS CARDINALS.

THURSDAY DAILY REPORT

CHALK UP ANOTHER ONE!
ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY!
HIGH TODAY,
TOMORROW, STILL CALLING FOR RAIN.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, LOOKING PRETTY GOOD AGAIN.

TUESDAY MORNING AROUND 30 MEMBERS OF THE MAQUOKETA AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MET AT THE CHAMBER OFFICE TO DISCUSS THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW "SAFE ZONES".    THESE ZONES WILL BE LOCAL BUSINESS PLACES THAT ARE SAFE AREAS FOR LOCAL CHILDREN WHO ARE BEING BULLIED WHEN OUT IN THE COMMUNITY.    KIDS CAN COME INTO THE BUSINESS PLACES THAT HAVE A DECAL ON THE DOOR SAYING "SAFE
ZONE" AND CAN TELL THE EMPLOYEES THAT THEY WERE BEING BULLIED.
THE EMPLOYEES  WERE TRAINED TUESDAY TO BE ABLE TO GATHER THE
INFORMATION AND BE ABLE TO REPORT IT TO THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE
OFFICE.

A GOOD TURN OUT LAST NIGHT AT TABOR WINERY AT BALDWIN FOR
HILLARY CLINTON AND TOM VILSACK.
IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT FOR AROUND 300 PEOPLE TO STAND ON THE HILLSIDE BY THE WINERY OR SIT ON CHAIRS AND PICNIC TABLES
(FOLDING LAWN CHAIRS WERE NOT ALLOWED IN AREA) CLOSER TO THE BARN BELOW WHERE TOM AND HILLARY SPOKE NEXT TO SOME BALES OF
HAY.    THEY ARRIVED (NOT IN A CUSTOMARY BUS) AT 7:10, SOME TWENTY MINUTES EARLY, AND AFTER A TEN MINUTE SPEECH BY THE FORMER IOWA GOVERNOR AND U.S. SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE, HILLARY SPOKE ABOUT A HALF HOUR, SAYING LOTS OF THINGS PEOPLE WANTED TO HEAR,
JUDGING BY FREQUENT APPLAUSE.    SHE THEN SHOOK HANDS AND SIGNED AUTOGRAPHS AFTER.
BOTH LOOKED GOOD AND SOUNDED GOOD DESPITE BEING AT THE END OF A
LONG DAY FOR THE AG RELATED FINAL APPEARANCE OF THE DAY.
EVERYONE HAD TO PASS THROUGH A METAL DETECTOR BEFORE ENTERING
THE RALLY AREA.     LOOKS LIKE SHE IS LOOKING RIGHT AT ME DOESN'T IT?
I WAS FAR AWAY, UP THE HILL, AND I WAS USING MY TELEPHOTO LENS.

THERE WILL BE MANY, MANY MORE LIKE THIS BETWEEN NOW AND
NOVEMBER 2016 !

MY FIRST TIME TO MENTION HERE  ..  DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!

WEDNESDAY DAILY REPORT

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, AROUND 4, IT RAINED HARD IN MAQUOKETA
AND WE GOT OVER 2-INCHES.
TODAY, CLOUDY, WINDY AND COLD..A HIGH OF JUST 66.
TOMORROW, SUNNY AND 76.
FRIDAY, SUNNY AND 81.
SATURDAY, SUNNY AND 82.

YESTERDAY, I DID NOT DO A DAILY REPORT BECAUSE OF THE KMAQ
BUS TO THE STATE FAIR.   IT RAINED A LOT THERE TOO, SO MOST OF
THE TIME, WE WERE CHECKING ON INDOOR EXHIBITS.
DID TAKE A PHOTO OF THIS YEAR'S BUTTER COW....
IT IS BEHIND GLASS IN A REFRIGERATED AREA AND THERE IS A LINE TO
LOOK AT IT ALL THE TIMES

A BIRTH:   A BOY BORN JULY 29TH TO BRETT TRACY AND JACOB BAUGHMAN OF DEWITT.   MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS ARE JASON AND JESS TRACY OF  MAQUOKETA.    GREAT-GRANDPARENTS ARE JC AND DARLENE COX OF
MAQUOKETA.

MEDIACOM HAS INFORMED MAQUOKETA THAT KWWL-TV IN WATERLOO  WILL BE TAKEN OFF THE MAQUOKETA CABLE-TV BECAUSE MAQUOKETA HAS
NBC SERVICE THROUGH KWQC IN DAVENPORT.

LOTS OF PAINTING GOING ON IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA, INCLUDING
THE BACK OF THE VOY THEATRE, PAINTED LAST WEEK.   I'M SURE
ALL THE APARTMENTS BEHIND WILL LIKE THE NEW WHITE LOOK.
BEFORE 1973, THE LOW PART WAS THE BACK OF A  DRY CLEANING
ESTABLISHMENT AND THE HIGH PART, THE BACK OF THE IH TRACTOR
DEALERSHIP.    SO, AFTER 40 PLUS YEARS, PAINTING WAS NEEDED.

THE MAQUOKETA PUBLIC LIBRARY HAS MET THE CONDITIONS FOR STATE ACCREDITATION, THROUGH JUNE 30, 2018.    OF IOWA'S 544 PUBLIC
LIBRARIES, 351, INCLUDING MAQUOKETA, ARE ACCREDITED.

HAVE A GOOD WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY.
