THEM TO CONTROL PARKING.     ONE WOULD PUT THE OVER-DUE PARKING FINE INTO A LITTLE ENVELOPE AND THERE WERE NUMEROUS BOXES
ON POLES WHERE ENVELOPE COULD BE DEPOSITED.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND AND NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE PLANS FOR
"MAY DAY" THIS YEAR.     SURPRISE FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WITH
A MAY BASKET MAY 1ST.    MANY LIKE TO PUT IT ON THE FRONT STEPS
EARLY IN THE MORNING AND LEAVE NO NAME.   PEOPLE THEN WONDER ALL DAY WHO DID IT.

AND SUNDAY, MAY 4, ANOTHER DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY!

THE JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISORS TALKED ABOUT ATV'S AT THEIR
MEETING THIS WEEK.    COUNTY ATTORNEY SARA DAVENPORT CHECKED WITH THE IOWA ATTORNEY GENERAL AND ATV'S CAN NOT RIDE ON GRAVEL ROADS IN IOWA.   FARMERS ARE ALLOWED TO RIDE ATV'S FROM FARM TO
FARM.      ATV GROUPS CAN RIDE ON COUNTY ROADS FOR A SPECIFIC
EVENT, NOT JUST ANY TIME.     IT WAS MENTIONED AT THE MEETING THAT SOME DOCTORS AT UNIVERSITY OF IOWA HOSPITALS AND CLINICS ISSUED A 48 PAGE REPORT ON THE DANGERS OF RIDING ATV'S.

REMEMBER READING HERE A COUPLE DAYS AGO, ABOUT THE MENNONITE CHURCH EAST OF  SPRINGBROOK?   ON THAT GRAVEL ROAD, DRIVE PAST THE CHURCH A MILE OR MORE AND ON THE RIGHT, YOU COME TO ONE OF JACKSON COUNTY'S WINERY'S.     DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO STOP, BUT TOOK
THE TWO PHOTOS ABOVE.     JACKSON COUNTY IS INDEED A WINE COUNTY!
IT TASTES GOOD AND IS GOOD FOR YOU, MODERATELY.

YOU AND YOUR SPOUSE OR FRIEND, CLICK A GLASS TONIGHT TO GOOD HEALTH!

TUESDAY DAILY REPORT

SUNNY AND UPPER 50'S AGAIN.
AND THEN TOMORROW THRU THE WEEKEND, IN THE 60'S EVERY DAY.
MIGHT EVEN MAKE 70 TO THE SOUTH OF MAQUOKETA.

ANYONE REMEMBER APRIL 9 AND 10....1973?   A SURPRISE HUGE SNOW
STORM HIT THE MIDWEST AND MAQUOKETA AREA.   IT STARTED MONDAY
AFTERNOON, THE 9TH AND ENDED TUESDAY MORNING.    DUBUQUE HAD
19 INCHES, MAQUOKETA 16.    CLINTON ON THE OTHER HAND HAD ONLY 1.

A MAQUOKETA MAN WAS TAKEN TO UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS BY AIR LAST NIGHT AFTER A MOTORCYLE ACCIDENT IN THE 1300 BLOCK OF 250TH
AVENUE NEAR DELMAR.    DAVID NOTZ, AGE 60, WAS RIDING HIS
BIKE  WHEN IT  HIT A DOG AND SLID INTO THE NORTHBOUND LANES, COMING TO REST IN THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD.    HE WAS THROWN FROM
THE CYCLE.   HIS CONDITION IS NOT AVAILABLE.   $1,500 DAMAGE TO
HIS 2000 YAMAHA.   THE ACCIDENT  HAPPENED ABOUT 6 LAST NIGHT.

MORE THAN 20 CONTROLLED BURNS YESTERDAY IN JACKSON COUNTY.
BUT, AS OF THIS MORNING, THOSE PHONED-IN BURNS ARE BANNED UNDER A  COUNTY-WIDE BURN BAND.       LYN MEDINGER, JACKSON COUNTY
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR SAID SEVERAL FIRE CHIEFS
AGREED THE BURN BAN NEEDED TO BE PUT IN PLACE.   IT IS
VERY DRY IN THE COUNTY.

THE MAQUOKETA FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO A TREE ON FIRE  AT 7:40 LAST NIGHT ON 24TH STREET AND HIGHWAY 64.   FIREMEN SPENT AND HOUR
AT THE SITE.
AND THIS MORNING AT 8:20, FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO WADY
INDUSTRIES ON E. GROVE IN MAQUOKETA.   HOWEVER, THERE WAS NOT FIRE.    THERE WAS SOME SMOKE, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE SMOKE
IS  NOT KNOWN AT THIS TIME.

AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING, THREE STREET PROJECTS WERE APPROVED FOR THIS YEAR IN MAQUOKETA.
GOOD NEWS, AS LOTS THE CITY STREETS ARE SHOWING WEAR,
AND WE CAN FEEL IT TOO.
DESPITE A REAL NEED AND REAL SUPPORT BY MANY, LOOKS LIKE
A GAS TAX INCREASE WILL NOT BE APPROVED AGAIN THIS YEAR  BY
THE IOWA LEGISLATURE.

NO REPORT TOMORROW.
