WE GOT SOME RAIN THIS MORNING...AND NOW THE REST OF THE DAY IS CLOUDY AND COOL.    MORE RAIN POSSIBLE TONIGHT AND TOMORROW.
BUT WEDNESDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND...A NICE FORECAST.

THE FILING DEADLINE HAS PASSED FOR THE IOWA SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION DAY SEPTEMBER 10TH.
IN MAQUOKETA, THERE ARE 3 PEOPLE SEEKING TWO POSITIONS.
THEY ARE INCUMBANT BRIAN TABOR, TANYA ROEDER AND RONALD
HORAN,JR.    ALSO ON THE BALLOT IS A REQUEST FOR A $1 PER $1,000
ASSESSED VALUATION PHYSICAL PLANT AND  EQUIPMENT LEVY.
THE LEVY IS CURRENTLY AT 67-CENTS.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT.  ON THE AGENDA, THE CHAMBER MONTHLY REPORT, THE NEW WATER METER PROGRAM, LITTLE BEAR PARK REBUILDING AND SELLING OR  NOT, OF CITY PROPERTY NEAR NUGENT
AUTO.

A NEW BAR/GRILL IS ABOUT TO OPEN IN MAQUOKETA.
AND TWO OTHER NEW BUSINESSES DOWNTOWN.
AND A RUMOR THAT ONE WILL CLOSE.

A STREET WAS RE-PAVED PAST THE WEST SIDE OF THE YMCA LAST WEEK.
NICE IMPROVEMENT.

OLD HIGHWAY 61 SOUTH FROM THE JOHN DEALERSHIP SOUTH TO
HIGHWAY 136 WAS RE-PAVED AND IS NOW AGAIN OPEN.
AGAIN..A NICE IMPROVEMENT.

JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISOR, LONGTIME BUSINESSMAN AND PRESIDENT OF THE JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY JACK WILLEY ABOVE, WAS EMCEE AND THE HOSTS FOR THE EVENT WERE KATHY BANOWETZ ABOVE AND HER HUSBAND VIRL.     AFTER THE  SHORT PROGRAM, THE TIMBER CITY BAND PRESENTED A NEARLY 90-MINUTE WONDERFUL BAND CONCERT.
