THANKSGIVING DAY ARE UP TO 40% IN THE AFTERNOON.

THE REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY WILL BE OFFERING RIDES IN MAQUOKETA ON SUNDAY AFTERNOONS THROUGH DECEMBER.
JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISOR JACK WILLEY SAID TODAY THAT THE
RTA BOARD IN DUBUQUE AGREED TO A TRIAL PROGRAM.     RIDES
WILL BE OFFERED FROM 1:30 UNTIL 5:30 P.M. SUNDAYS.   THE TRIAL
STARTED THIS PAST SUNDAY AND IS EXPECTED TO RUN THROUGH DECEMBER ON SUNDAYS AS A PILOT PROGRAM.    COST OF THE RIDE IS $4 ROUND TRIP.        RESIDENTS MUST CALL THE RTA BY 5 P.M. FRIDAYS TO RESERVE A RIDE.    THE TOLL FREE NUMBER IS 1-800-839-5005.
THE RTA BUS IS HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE.    WILLEY SAID HE HAS BEEN PUSHING FOR WEEKEND SERVICE IN MAQUOKETA FOR A LONG TIME.    HE SAID IT'S A GOOD SERVICE FOR RESIDENTS.

UNEMPLOYMENT RATES WENT UP IN THE AREA IN OCTOBER.
IOWA STATE WENT DOWN TO 5.1 FROM 5.2 IN SEPTEMBER.
IN JACKSON COUNTY, THE JOBLESS RATE WENT UP TO 4.7 IN OCTOBER COMPARED TO 4.1 IN SEPTEMBER.

LAVERNE BOUCHAUTE, 85, OF WHEATLAND DIED SATURDAY AT HER HOME.
THE FUNERAL WILL BE SATURDAY MORNING AT 10 AT THE TORONTO
CATHOLIC CHURCH.   FRIENDS CAN CALL FRIDAY NIGHT AT CHAPMAN FUNERAL HOME IN WHEATLAND.     SURIVIVORS INCLUDE HER HUSBAND AND A SON, JOHN BOUCHAUTE OF MAQUOKETA.

THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM STARTS THE
SEASON TONIGHT AT HOME, HOSTING CENTER POINT URBANA.

THIS AFTERNOON AT 4, THE FIRST MCHS BOWLING MEET WAS HELD AT TIMBER LANES.   THE CARDINALS  HOSTED THE MARION INDIANS.

I KNOW OF TWO THANKSGIVING EVE CHURCH SERVICES IN MAQUOKETA
TOMORROW.    THE  FIRST LUTHERAN SERVICE IS AT 6 P.M AND THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH WILL HAVE THEIR SEVICE AT 7 P.M.
