NICE DAY TODAY...75 FOR HIGH. REST OF THE WEEKEND SHOULD BE PRETTY GOOD TOO.

THE CLASS OF 2009 AT MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL WILL GRADUATE
IN THE NEW HIGH SCHOOL SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT 2 P.M. SHOULD BE LOTS OF ROOM AS THE GYM SEATS AROUND 1,600. LAST YEAR, IN THE OHNWARD CENTER, THE
SEATING CAPACITY WAS LESS THAN 900. THE GYM HAS AIR-CONDITIONING.'
THE CLASS OF 2009 HAS 121 STUDENTS. DEB CARSON, ONE OF THE CEREMONY COORDINATORS, AID THE GRADUATES WILL GATHER AND LINE-UP IN THE
NEARBY OLD GYM. THEY WILL DIVED INTO TWO LINES AS THEY ENTER THE NEW
GYM FROM THE MEZZAINE LEVEL. FROM THERE, THEY WILL WALK DOWN THE TWO STAIRCASES ON THE WEST END OF THE NEW GYM AND SIT ON SEATS ON THE GYM FLOOR. THE COMMENCEMENT ACTIVITIES WILL TAKE PLACE ON A STAGE LOCATED ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE GYM. SENIORS JENI SCHURBON AND ALEXANDRA SIMPSON WILL SPEAK DURING THE CEREMONY. CARSON SAID
THE CLASS MEMBERS WILL WEAR SPECIAL RIBBONS IN MEMORY OF DEREK
ARENSDORF AND TEACHER WILLIAM COOEY, BOTH OF WHOM DIED DURING THE
2008-09 SCHOOL YEARS.
THE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES SUNDAY AFTERNOON WILL BE BROADCAST "LIVE" FROM THE GYM ON KMAQ - FM, WITH LEIGHTON HEPKER HOSTING
THE BROADCAST. IT WILL ALSO BE ON KMAQ'S WEB SITE...www.kmaq.com
