IT HAS BEEN A VERY WET DAY IN MAQUOKETA.

A MAQUOKETA MAN, JOSEPH POTTER THE 3RD, AGE 42, IS IN JAIL ON $5,000 CASH BOND AFTER HE WENT FOR A GUN WHEN A JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTY ATTEMPTED TO STOP HIM. DEPUTY SHERIFF MIKE PETERS SAID POTTER WAS SHOWING A GUN TO CHILDREN AT LITTLE BEAR PARK AT 7:52 FRIDAY NIGHT. PETERS FOUND POTTER RIDING HIS BICYCLE AT NORTH 5TH STREET AND GROVE SHORTLY AFTER AND WHEN
PETERS TRIED TO STOP HIM, POTTER'S HAND WENT TO HIS POCKET. DEPUTY PETERS
GOT HIM TO THE GROUND AND IN HIS POCKET, THE DEPUTY FOUND A LOADED 32
CALIBER PISTOL WITH FIVE ROUNDS. THE DEPUTY ALSO FOUND A TUBE WITH
WHITE POWDER, USED FOR METH. POTTER WAS ARRESTED WITHOUT INCIDENT.

THE MAQUOKETA ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT WILL BE ASKED TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT A MEETING AT CITY HALL TO ISSUE A SPECIAL USE PERMIT TO ALLOW A WIND TURBINE TO BE BUILT NEAR THE MAQUOKETA YMCA.

THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD WILL MEET AT 6 TONIGHT AT THE DISTRICT OFFICE.
ONE OF THE ITEMS ON THE AGENDA IS TO POSSIBLY APPROVE OF A HIGH SCHOO
BOWLING TEAM.
