WE HAD THUNDERSTORMS AND RAIN OVERNIGHT AND TODAY, A PARTLY
SUNNY DAY AND HIGH OF 80. A CHANCE OF RAIN DAILY IS IN THE FORECAST
ALL WEEK LONG AND COOLER WEATHER TOO.

MAQUOKETA WILL HAVE TWO FIREWORKS SHOWS WITHIN A WEEK, AND
BEFORE JULY 4TH. NONE ON JULY 4TH.
THERE WILL BE FREE FIREWORKS AFTER THE STOCK CAR RACES
THIS SATURDAY, WHICH IS ALSO THE END OF THE DAY-LONG TIMBER
CITY DAY EVENT, SPONSORED BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
AND THE JACKSON COUNTY REGIONAL HEALTH CENTER WILL AGAIN
SPONSOR A FIREWORKS SHOW.....ON FRIDAY, JULY 1ST.
THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL LAST JULY PUT ON A FREE FIREWORKS
SHOW ON THE GROUNDS, IN CELEBRATION OF THE AFFILIATION
AGREEMENT BETWEEN GENESIS HOSPITALS, DAVENPORT AND JACKSON HOSPITAL COUNTY HEALTH CENTER IN MAQUOKETA. I SAW IT LAST YEAR AND IT WAS THE BEST FIREWORKS DISPLAY I HAVE EVER SEEN IN THIS CITY. WE ALL THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A ONE-TIME HAPPENING.
NOW, GENESIS SAYS THEY HAVE MORE TO CELEBRATE, INCLUDING THE
NEW MAQUOKETA SLEEP DISORDER CENTER AT THE HOSPITAL AND
DECIDED TO PUT ON ANOTHER FREE FIREWORKS DISPLAY THIS YEAR.
FRIDAY, JULY 1ST....MARK IT ON YOUR CALENDAR. IT WILL BE FREE
AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT.
THEY MAY APPOINT A NEW COUNCILMAN.
THE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THE BRIDGE SOUTH OF TOWN
AND POSSIBLE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE ADDED TO IT.
AND THEY WILL TALK ABOUT A POSSIBLE WIND TURBINE FOR THE Y.

THE MAQUOKETA PUBLIC LIBRARY DIRECTOR LAUREN SIEBERT OF
MAQUOKETA HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH OPERATING A VEHICLE WHILE
INTOXICATED, INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS AND NO CAR
REGISTRATION. SHE WAS STOPPED FOR A TRAFFIC STOP AT 1:42 A.M.
SATURDAY AND REFUSED ALL TESTING AND REFUSED TO GET OUT OF HER
CAR. WHEN SHE STARTED TO ROLL UP HER WINDOW, THE POLICE
OFFICER HAD TO PHYSICALLY HOLD IT DOWN UNTIL ANOTHER POLICE
OFFICER ARRIVED TO ASSIST HER OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND INTO
THE SQUAD CAR. THEY ALSO HAD TO ASSIST HER INTO THE JAIL. SHE
WAS KEPT IN THE DETENTION CENTER HERE UNDER WATCH BY A
JAIL MATRON UNTIL A MAGISTRATE SAW HER ON SATURDAY MORNING.
HER CASE HAS BEEN CONTINUED TO 9 A.M. THIS THURSDAY.

THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB FATHER'S DAY BREAKFAST AT THE
AIRPORT YESTERDAY WENT WELL, WITH OVER 400 ATTENDING.
PLUS, SEVERAL PLANES FLEW IN FOR THE FREE BREAKFAST FOR PILOTS.
CHRIS PANCAKES CREATED LOTS OF LAUGHS BY FLIPPING PANCAKES
TO BE CAUGHT IN PAPER PLATES. MANY GOOD CATCHES MADE, BUT MANY MISSES TOO. WEATHER WAS NOT THE BEST AND KEPT ATTENDANCE A LITTLE BELOW PREVIOUS YEARS.

THE RODEO HAD 3 GOOD WEATHER NIGHTS AND GOOD TURNOUTS.

THE WOODCARVERS CONVENTION WAS ANOTHER SUCCESS AND
WORD IS, THEY WILL ALL BE BACK NEXT JUNE.

THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY DUCK RACE IS AT 6 TOMORROW NIGHT AT THE
YMCA SWIMMING POOL. THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME TO COME AND WATCH....
OR LISTEN TO THE RACE ON KMAQ AM AND FM AT 6..."LIVE AND DIRECT"
FROM THE POOL. ALSO ON KMAQ'S WEB SITE....GO TO HOME PAGE
AND CLICK ON THE LISTEN BUTTON ON THE LEFT SIDE.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
