SQUAD, SAID SHE WAS WITH A GROUP WHO WERE WALKING IN THE PARK
AROUND 9:30 AND SHE FELL AND LANDED HEAD FIRST. THE FALL HAPPENED
NEAR THE POPULAR SWINGING BRIDGE. HER CONDITION IS NOT KNOWN.
TO RESCUE HER, THE SQUAD STAGED GUYS ALONG THE TRAIL TO DO A RELAY
IN CARRYING HER IN A LARGE BASKET.
A MAQUOKETA MAN, BRYAN CLARK, HIT A DEER AT 3:20 AM SUNDAY
ON HIGHWAY 61 NORTH. NO INJURIES. $1,500 IN DAMAGES TO THE 1999

A NEW DIVERSITY CLUB WILL CAN START AT THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL
THIS FALL. THE SCHOOL BOARD VOTED 4 TO 1 LAST NIGHT TO ALLOW THE
CLUB. BOARD MEMBER ANNE HAWKS VOTED NO. SUPT. HUCKSTADT
SAID THE DISTRICT WAS NOTIFIED IN LATE JUNE THAT FAILURE TO APPROVE
THE CLUB COULD CAUSE THE DISTRICT TO FACE LEGAL ACTION UNDER THE
EQUAL ACCESS ACT OF 1984.
BEL TUBBS OF MAQUOKETA WILL BE PRESENTED THE JACKSON COUNTY
AREA TOURISM ASSOCIATION PROMOTIONAL PARTNER AWARD.
IT IS PRESENTED TO THOSE WHO HAVE CREATED A POSITIVE IMPACT
ON TOURISM IN THE COUNTY. BEL HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN JACKSON
COUNTY TOURISM FOR MORE THAN 35 YEARS. SHE WILL RECEIVE THE
AWARD AT 2 SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT THE CEREMONIES WHICH WILL ALSO
FEATURE THE CORONATION OF THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR QUEEN,
AT THE FAIRGROUNDS.
