IT IS SNOWING IN MAQUOKETA.
HIGH TODAY,  33.
SNOW STARTED THIS AFTERNOON....VERY LITTLE SO FAR.
WILL PROBABLY GET MORE TONIGHT AND IT IS SUPPOSED TO END BY
NOON TOMORROW.     TOTAL FOR THIS STORM....SEVERAL INCHES POSSIBLE.   NO LADIES BOWLING TONIGHT.   NO BINGO AT FAIRGROUNDS TONIGHT.     NO TRAVELOG TONIGHT AT DEWITT.    AND WE ARE AIRING
OTHER CANCELLATIONS.

A PUBLIC HEARING FOR A SPECIAL USE TAX PERMIT FOR A NEW WINERY
NEAR MAQUOKETA IS PLANNED FOR MONDAY, MARCH 11TH.
JIM AND MARY KAY SORENSON HAVE HAD A WINERY NEAR PRESTON FOR A FEW YEARS.    NOW, THEY PLAN TO MOVE TO A PROPERTY AT THE  WEST EDGE OF MAQUOKETA JUST PAST TACO JOHNS ON HIGHWAY 64.    THEY PLAN TO BUILD A BUILDING ON THE PROPERTY AND OPEN A WINERY.

FOR OHNWARD BANKS IN MAQUOKETA, TOOK THIS EAGLE PHOTO LAST SATURDAY NEAR GUTTENBERG AS IT WAS FLYING OVER THE MIGHTY
MISSISSIPPI RIVER.    YEARS AGO, IT WAS HARD TO FINE AN EAGLE
FLYING AROUND BUT NOW THEY ARE EVERYWHERE ON THE RIVER.

A TIRE LAYING ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT LAST NIGHT AROUND 6:49 ON  HIGHWAY 61,  A HALF MILE SOUTH OF OTTER CREEK.
JAMES GUNNING, AGE 32, OF MAQUOKETA WAS GOING SOUTH AND HIT THE
TIRE.   HE THEN LOST CONTROL AND WENT INTO THE DITCH AND HIS CAR OVERTURNED AND LANDED ON ITS SIDE.   $7,500 IN DAMAGES TO HIS
95 CHEVY.    AN AMBULANCE WAS CALLED, BUT GUNNING WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL.    AROUND THE SAME TIME, ANOTHER VEHICLE CLIPPED THAT SAME TIRE, BUT CONTINUED ON.

BENNY SCHNACK, AGE 85, OF GRAND MOUND DIED MONDAY IN A CARE FACILITY IN DAVENPORT.   THE FUNERAL WILL BE FRIDAY MORNING AT THE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN GRAND MOUND.  FRIENDS CAN CALL THURSDAY NIGHT AT THE SCHULZ FUNERAL HOME THERE.      HE IS SURVED BY HIS
WIFE AND 4 CHILDREN, INCLUDINGLISA BRIGGS OF MAQUOKETA.

AMANDA "MANDY" BOWMAN OF MONTICELLO ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT
TODAY WAS HER LAST DAY IN CONGRESSMAN BRUCE BRALEY'S OFFICE.
MANDY IS A GRANDDAUGHTER OF HUGH BOWMAN OF MAQUOKETA AND
ROGER AND JENNIE STEWART OF RURAL MAQUOKETA.    SHE HAS DONE PRESS RELEASES FOR  BRALEY FOR OVER  A YEAR.    THIS FRIDAY, SHE
WILL BE MOVING TO CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND ON A WORK VISA.
HER PARENTS ARE MIKE AND DEB (STEWART) BOWMAN OF MONTICELLO.
