ANOTHER SUNNY DAY IN MAQUOKETA...BUT COOLER...MID 60'S.
WARMER TOMORROW THRU THE WEEKEND.

WAS AT "CITY LIMITS RESTAURANT" FOR LUNCH AND MET DON AND
DARLENE REUTER (THEY PRONOUNCE IT RIDER) OF RURAL MAQUOKETA.
THEY TOLD ME MAQUOKETA NOW HAS A NEW STREET.
IT IS OAK STREET, OUT IN THE NEW SUBDIVISION I WROTE ABOUT EARLIER THIS WEEK HERE ON THIS DAILY REPORT.     THE FIRST  HOUSE THERE  (THERE ARE 8 LOTS TO START) IS BEING BUILDT BY THEM.    WORK HAS STARTED ON THE 3-BEDROOM, 3 CAR GARAGE, HOME.    THEY HOPE TO MOVE SOMETIME BEFORE SPRING ARRIVES.   BRIAN MANGLER IS THE CONTRACTOR.   THE REUTER'S SOLD THEIR FARM ABOUT 6 MILES EAST OF MAQUOKETA AND OF COURSE ARE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THEIR NEW HOME.    DON WILL USE ONE OF  THE GARAGE SPACES FOR HIS WORKSHOP.    SO.......COMING....A NEW STREET, NEW HOME AND TWO NEW CITIZENS.     EXCITING!

MY FRIEND DAVE EGGERS (HAVE KNOWN HIM A LONG TIME BECAUSE OF
HIS SCOUTING LEADERSHIP IN AREA) CALLED THIS AFTERNOON TO TELL
ME THAT THE "MEMORY WALK" FOR ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE WAS HELD LAST SATURDAY AT COLE PARK AND SURRONDING AREA IN BELLEVUE AND THAT IT WAS A BIG SUCCESS.   THE WALKED RAISED AROUND $6,000 WITH 95%
STAYING IN JACKSON COUNTY.    DAVE THOUGHT HE MIGHT HAVE HAD
THE MOST PLEDGES, TOTALING AROUND $700.    GOOD JOB  DAVE...
AND THE OTHER 30-40 WALKERS.

CARSON CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER IN MAQUOKETA, TODAY FAXED
4 PENDING OBITS  AT ONCE.   CHECK THEM OUT ON CARSON'S WEB SITE.
ONE WAS FOR CARL ROTMAN, AGE 90, WHO DIED THIS MORNING AT
CLOVER RIDGE.    HE STARTED HIS BUSINESS, ROTMAN MOTOR COMPANY,
IN 1950 IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA.  IT WAS MOVED TO A NEW LOCATION
AND BUILDING ON WEST PLATT YEARS LATER AND THOUGH HE SOLD
THE BUSINESS TO TOM TIMMERMAN, CARL CONTINUED FOR YEARS....
UNTIL RECENTLY.... TO GO DOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DO WHAT HE COULD TO HELP.   THE DEALERSHIP NAME WAS NEVER CHANGED.  FOR MANY YEARS,  CARL WAS PROBABLY THE TOP "WALKER" IN MAQUOKETA FOR EXERCISE. THE COMMUNITY WILL MISS THIS WELL-RESPECTED BUSINESSMAN.

TOMORROW, THE 2ND GRADE CLASSES WILL LEAVE CARDINAL ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL AT 1 P.M. BEFORE THE HOMECOMING PARADE TO DRAW CARS, ETC. AROUND THE GREEN SPACE ON MAIN STREET.      PRINCIPAL JOAN BOLLMAN
SAYS THE MAQUOKETA ART EXPERIENCE WILL PROVIDE THE CHALK FOR THE
KIDS TO USE.   SHOULD BE FUN.....AND JUST ANOTHER WAY TO CELEBRATE
HOMECOMING, THE CAR SHOW DOWNTOWN SATURDAY AND THE
MUSCLES ON MAIN STREET EVENT SATURDAY.    WHEN DOWNTOWN
SATURDAY, THE 4 SECOND GRADE CLASSES (ABOUT 85 STUDENTS)
HOPE YOU ENJOY THE ARTWORK.

THE WEATHER FORECAST IS LOOKING GREAT FOR HOMECOMING!
THE GAME WILL BE ON KMAQ AND OUR WEB SITE WITH MATT CLARK
CALLING THE ACTION.

GO CARDINALS!
