SUNNY THIS MORNING AND CLOUDS ROLLED IN THIS AFTERNOON.
NOT WINDY.

SEVERAL CARDINAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARENTS TOLD THE
MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD LAST NIGHT THEY DID NOT WANT TO SEE
A COUNSELOR POSITION ELIMINATED OR HAVE LARGER CLASS SIZES.
THE CURRENT PROPOSAL IS TO INCREASE CLASS SIZES IN 2ND AND
5TH GRADE AND CALLS FOR ONE LESS SECTION IN EACH GRADE.
CHARLIE EASTERLY IS TEH COUNSELOR RETIRING AND IT APPEARS
HIS POSITION WILL NOT BE REPLACED.

BOB AND ANN OSTERHAUS WILL CELEBRATE THEIR 60TH WEDDING
ANNIVERSARY NEXT TUESDAY, APRIL 9TH.

THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS AND BOYS HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS TEAMS
BOTH LOST THEIR MATCHES YESERDAY TO WESTERN DUBUQUE.
AND BY THE SAME SCORES....8 TO 1.

JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD MEMBERS APPROVED AN UPDATE TO THE COUNTY CONSERVATION RULES.      THE LAST TIME THEY
WERE UPDATED WAS IN  2007.  
CHANGES MADE:
TARGET SHOOTING IS PROHIBITED IN THE WILDLIFE AREA.
ALL ANIMALS MUST BE ON A LEASH ON CONSERVATION PROPERTY.
THE NEW RULES PROHIBIT URINATING IN CAMPGROUNDS.
THERE WILL CONTINUE TO BE FINES FOR VIOLATION OF PARKING
AND THE FINES HAVE BEEN INCREASED FROM $10 TO $20 PLUS COURT
COSTS AND SURCHARGES.

LONNIE AND NANCY GILMORE HAVE SOLD THEIR BUSINESS "GILMORE DRY CLEANERS" TO GREG AND CAROLYN MARTIN.    AFTER 32 YEARS, LONNIE
IS RETIRING!  THEY  HAVE A HOUSE OVERLOOKING THE MAQUOKETA
COUNTRY CLUB GOLF COURSE.     NOW LONNIE WILL BE ABLE TO NOT JUST
LOOK OUT OVER THE COURSE EVERY DAY, BUT WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY IT ANY DAY HE WANTS TO.    NANCY IS ALSO RETIRED AND HAS BEEN HELPING OUT
AT THE DRY CLEANERS.     GREG LEFT A JOB AS A SALES REP FOR
AIRAMARK FOR 10 YEARS TO GO INTO BUSINESS FOR HIMSELF.    HE WILL
HAVE A LOT LESS TRAVELING NOW, BUT WILL STILL CONTINUE TO MAKE
A TRIP  DAILY TO THE DROP-OFF PLACE IN DEWITT FOR CLOTHES TO BE
CLEANED.    CARLOYN WILL HELP AT THE STORE AND DO THE BOOK
WORK, BUT WILL CONTINUE AS A DENTAL HYGIENIST AT D'AGOSTINO
FAMILY DENTISTRY IN MAQUOKETA.     GREG AND CAROLYN LIVE WEST OF
MAQUOKETA ON HIGHWAY 64 AND HAVE TWO CHILDREN THAT ATTEND
SACRED HEART SCHOOL.    DAUGHTER JOCELYN IS 12 AND SON TATE IS
6.     FOR NOW, THE NAME WILL STAY THE SAME, THE HOURS THE SAME
(MONDAY THRU FRIDAY AND SATURDAY MORNING) AND NO OTHER CHANGES ARE PLANNED.    THEY ARE JUST OFF WEST PLATT STREET ON SOUTH JONES AVENUE.     HAPPY RETIREMENT TO NANCY AND LONNIE AND GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BUSINESS TO GREG AND CAROLYN.
