THE MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE TODAY IN MAQUOKETA STARTED AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND ENDED ABOVE AT MT. HOPE CEMETERY.
THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL BAND PLAYED SEVERAL SELECTIONS AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE PROGRAM.
TERRY CREEGAN OF MAQUOKTA (ABOVE AND BELOW) GAVE THE MEMORIAL DAY ADDRESS. TERRY IS A RETIRED CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT OF THE U.S. AIRFORCE AND ALSO IS THE DIRECTOR OF THE JACKSON COUNTY VETERANS AFFAIRS OFFICE AT THE JACKSON COUNTY COURT HOUSE.
THE SERVICE TODAY WAS DIRECTED BY THE MAQUOKETA VFW POST 3633, AND THE AMERICAN LEGION POST 75 IN MAQUOKETA AND THEIR AUXILIARIES. CLIF MERRICK, A MEMBER OF BOTH ORGANIZATIONS, WAS THE EMCEE AND LEGIONAIRE JOHN SCHMIDT, LEBANON GRENANDA VETERAN, GAVE THE INVOCATION AND BENEDICTION.
