LOTS OF RAIN OVER THE WEEKEND AND EARLY THIS MORNING..... AROUND 1 1/2
INCHES. NOW, HOT AND HUMID WITH MORE RAIN PREDICTED FOR TONIGHT,
AND TOMORROW. WE ARE UNDER A FLOOD WATCH AGAIN BECAUSE OF
THE FORECAST.

MAQUOKETA POLICE RECEIVED NUMEROUS REPORTS OF VEHICLES BEING
RANSACKED OVER THE WEEKEND ON WESTERN AVENUE NEAR IMPERIAL APARTMENTS. TAKEN, CD'S, SOME CASH, AND MEDICATIONS. IN OTHER PARTS OF TOWN, OTHER ITEMS TAKEN FROM VEHICLES INCLUDED A CELL PHONE, SADDLE BAGS AND
MOTORCYCLE GLOVES.
THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT RECEIVED A VANDALISM REPORT, THAT A MAILBOX
WAS STOLEN AND A COUPLE WINDOWS WERE BROKEN AT 24549, 13TH STREET.

AN ANDREW MAN WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED SATURDAY AFTER HIS HAND GOT CAUGHT IN A HAY BALER. DENVER HUDRLIK, AGE 24, WAS WORKING ON THE JOHN DEPPE FARM SATURDAY AFTERNOON ON 362ND AVENUE WHEN THE FARM ACCIDENT OCCURRED. BELLEVUE FIRE AND RESCUE WAS CALLED AND THEY USED THE
JAWS OF LIFE TO HELP RELEASE HIS HAND FROM THE BALER. HE WAS AIRLIFTED TO UNIVERSITY OF IOWA HOSPITAL IN IOWA CITY. I HEARD FROM A GOOD SOURCE TODAY THAT HE MAY LOOSE A COUPLE FINGERS.

THE IOWA LOTTERY IS 25 YEARS OLD THIS MONTH. A LIST TODAY OF THE TOP 10 MONEY-WINNING IOWA CITIES PUTS SABULA IN 4TH PLACE AND MAQUOKETA IN
10TH. THE LIST IS INCLUDES WINNINGS OF $10,000 AND UP. WINNINGS IN SABULA HAVE TOTALED $32 MILLION. MOST OF THAT WENT TO THE HASKEN
FAMILY TEN YEARS AGO. IN MAQUOKETA, THE TOTAL WINNINGS CAME TO $20.5 MILLION. 80% OF IOWANS BUY LOTTERY TICKETS. I'M NOT VERY LUCKY!
I THINK THREE YEARS AGO, I WON $10. I BUY FEW TICKETS.

HAD A BUSY WEEKEND AT THE DRIVE-IN FOR THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY. CLOSE TO FULL HOUSE BOTH FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT, WITH GOOD WEATHER.
SOLD OVER FIVE HUNDRED 60-CENT HOTDOGS. THE BIRTHDAY EVENT CONTINUES THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT.

MY FRIEND BOBBY GRAVES DIED SATURDAY NIGHT, AT AGE 70. GOOD KMAQ LISTENER! HE LOVED MAQUOKETA! WHENEVER I OR SOMEONE NEEDED
TO HAVE A HAULING JOB DONE, BOBBY GOT THE CALL. AND, HE KNEW THE MEN
THAT WERE AVAILABLE TO HELP HIM GET THE JOB DONE, QUICKLY. HE AND THE GUYS DID OTHER THINGS ALSO, BESIDES HAULING. MY WHITE FENCE AT THE
DRIVE-IN WAS PUT UP BY BOBBY AND CREW.
HE WAS ANOTHER OF THOSE "ONE-OF-A-KIND-GUYS" IN MAQUOKETA.
WE'LL ALL MISS HIM. THAT'S FOR SURE. SERVICES ARE PENDING AT CARSON'S.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
