MONDAY DAILY REPORT

85 TODAY FOR A HIGH.
COOLER WEATHER WITH SOME RAIN IS FORECAST FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

LAST NIGHT, TWO GIRLS WERE REPORTED MISSING
ON THE MAQUOKETA RIVER AFTER TUBING ON THE
RIVER.    THEY GOT SEPARATED FROM THEIR GROUP AND NEITHER HAD A CELL PHONE WITH THEM.     AT 9:30 LAST  NIGHT, SANDRA WALKER
CALLED 9-1-1 TO REPORT THAT THE GIRLS
(BAILEY WALKER AND A FRIEND, LEXI) WERE MISSING AND THE
SEARCH BEGAN, WITH A COUPLE PROBLEMS.
IT WAS GETTING VERY DARK AND THE RIVER
TOO SHALLOW FOR ANYTHING BUT CANOES
AND KAYAKS.    THE SEARCH CONTINUED UNTIL
JUST AFTER 11 WHEN DEPUTY SHERIFF CHAD  ROEDER FOUND THE GIRLS NEAR THE MILLER TOWN BRIDGE, SAFE AND SOUND.    AN ALL CLEAR WAS GIVEN ON THE INCIDENT AT 11:36 P.M.

NEW AT LITTLE BEAR PARK....


SCHOOL BOARD MEETING AT 6 TONIGHT.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING AT 7 TONIGHT.

AN OPERA IS COMING TO MAQUOKETA
AUGUST 29TH.

BELLEVUE 1840 WAR

RE-ENACTMENT WAS SATURDAY AT 3 P.M. BEFORE HUNDREDS IN DOWNTOWN BELLEVUE, DURING THEIR ANNUAL FISHTIVAL DAY.
CELEBRATING AFTER GANG WAS WHIPPED AND SENT DOWN THE RIVER.
VOTING TO HANG OR WHIP
SEVEN WERE KILLED IN THE BATTLE.
A BOOK ABOUT THE WAR IS AVAILABLE AT THE LIBRARY AND AT THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM.
IT WAS NOT A FUN EVENT IN 1840 BUT IT WAS A FUN AND NOISY (LOTS  OF GUN SHOTS WITH BLANKS SATURDAY) EVENT SATURDAY IN BELLEVUE.
