WEDNESDAY DAILEY REPORT

1/10 INCH OF RAIN LAST  NIGHT.
PARTLY SUNNY TODAY AND IN LOW 70'S.
TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND, NO RAIN AND LOW 80'S TEMPS.

A MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL GOLFER IS GOING TO THE GIRL'S STATE
TOURNAMENT NEXT MONDAY AND TUESDAY, AT THE AMES COUNTRY CLUB.
ALLISON VANDEMORE WON THE CLASS 4-A REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
YESTERDAY AT THE SPRINGBROOK COUNTRY CLUB IN DEWITT.
SHE CARDED AN 82 TO LEAD THE CARDINALS AND WAS MEDALIST FOR
THE DAY.      THE LAST TWO YEARS, SHE MISSED GOING TO STATE BY
ONE STROKE EACH YEAR.     ACCORDING TO HER MOTHER, WHO I SAW
TODAY, ALLISON FIRST SWUNG A GOLF  CLUB AT AGE FOUR.   SHE
GRADUATED AT MCHS A WEEK AGO SUNDAY AND PLANS TO PLAY
VOLLEYBALL IN COLLEGE.

MAQUOKETA POLICE INVESTIGATED A TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT AT THE INTERSECTION OF SOUTH MAIN AND WEST SUMMIT STREETS AROUND 10:30 YESTERDAY MORNING.   BETTY DUNNE, AGE 86, OF RURAL ZWINGLE WAS EAST BOUND ON SUMMIT AND MADE A RIGHT TURN ONTO MAIN AND FAILED TO SEE THE SOUTH BOUND VEHICLE DRIVEN BY DEBRA BOWLING, AGE 61, OF MAQUOKETA.    THE TWO COLLIDED IN THE INTERSECTION AND EACH HAD $2,000 DAMAGE.   NO INJURIES.    DUNN WAS CHARGED.
FOR THE FIRST 12 YEARS IN MAQUOKETA, KMAQ OFFICE AND STUDIOS WERE AT 136 1/2 SOUTH MAIN STREET.    THE BUILDING ABOVE.   I TOOK THIS PHOTO YESTERDAY TO SHOW HOW NICE THE BUILDING LOOKS NOW THAT
THE PAINTING HAS BEEN COMPLETED BY THE OWNER, WHO ALSO OWNS
THE RESTAURANT.    NOTE, THE UPPER LEVEL WAS ALSO PAINTED AND
THE SAME COLORS USED BELOW BOTH UPPER AND LOWER WINDOWS.
IT WOULD BE NICE IF ALL OWNERS PAINTED THE UPSTAIRS PART OF THEIR
BUILDING.      AND YES..THEY SERVE GOOD FOOD TOO...7  DAYS A WEEK.
I BELIEVE WE HAD 36 STEPS TO CLIMB ON THE STAIRWAY ON LEFT SIDE.
THE NEW LADIES WARE STORE IS AT LEFT AND MAQUOKETA'S OLDEST
DOWNTOWN RETAIL STORE, MAX RAY JEWELER, IS ON THE RIGHT SIDE.

DOUG CROPPER, C.E.O. OF GENESIS HEALTH SYSTEMS IN DAVENPORT, ATTENDED THE MONTHLY MEETING OF THE JACKSON COUNTY REGIONAL
HEALTH CENTER YESTERDAY.     GENESIS AND THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL ARE IN THEIR 4TH YEAR OF A MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT WHICH CROPPER CALLED BENEFICIAL TO BOTH GROUPS.     LAST WEEK CHOPPER ANNOUNCED THAT CURT COLEMAN, C.E.O. OF THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL HAD BEEN NAMED PRESIDENT OF CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITALS AND IN HIS NEW POSITION WILLL OVERSEE THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL AND THE
HOSPITALS IN DEWITT AND ALEDO, ILLINOIS.      CROPPER ATTENDED YESTERDAY'S MEETING TO SEE IF THE LOCAL BOARD MEMBERS HAD ANY
QUESTIONS.    KMAQ STATION MANAGER LEIGHTON HEPKER  IS ONE OF THE LOCAL BOARD MEMBERS.
NEW SIGN AT BRICK TAP ON WEST PLATT.   THE  UPSTAIRS
BAR AND RESTAURANT STAIRWAY IS AT RIGHT.
THERE IS A PHOTOGRAPHY BUSINESS ON FIRST FLOOW.

IN SPORTS...BOY'S TOURNAMENT SOCCER LAST NIGHT, MAQUOKETA BEAT MOUNT VERNON 1 TO 0 AND FACE THE CENTRAL SABERS AT DEWITT
TOMORROW NIGHT.

GIRL'S SOFTBALL LAST NIGHT, THE CARDINALS FIRST GAME OF SEASON AND  THEY LOST TO NORTH SCOTT, 7 TO 1.
