THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL WILL ASK FORMER CITY MANAGER PAT CALAHAN TO COME UP WITH SOME COSTS TO SEARCH FOR A NEW ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR FOR THE CITY. ALSO, LAST NIGHT AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING, THE COUNCIL SENT THE ISSUE TO THE CITY'S PERSONNEL COMMITTEE FOR FURTHER STUDY.

THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN JACKSON COUNTY REMAINED THE SAME
IN FEBRUARY AS IT WAS IN JANUARY....AT 7.3 PERCENT.

AT THE SCOTT HINGTGEN FARM OF RURAL BELLEVUE/LAMOTTE, THE COWS COME IN FOR MILKING WHEN THEY WANT TO....AND ROBOTS MILK THEM.
NOBODY IS AROUND. FEED PELLETS ENCOURAGE THE COW TO GO INTO THE MILKING STALL. ROBOT MACHINES THEN MOVE IN AND ATTACH TO THE COW'S UDDERS AND ALL FOUR CUPS ARE ATTACHED TO THE COW.
THE 7 DAY MILKING BUSINESS HAS NEVER BEEN EASY....BUT THE ROBOTS (QUITE EXPENSIVE) ARE CHANGING THAT AND IN JUNE, DAIRY MONTH, THE JACKSON-CLINTON DAIRY ASSOCIATION "LUNCH ON THE FARM EVENT" WILL BE HELD AT THE HINGTGEN FARM SO WE CAN ALL WATCH THE COWS BEING MILKED WITHOUT HUMANS AROUND. I CAN'T WAIT.

THE "TOUCH OF BLING" STORE, CORNER OF MAIN AND PLATT (THE LEGION BUILDING) CLOSED ITS DOORS MARCH 31ST.

IN SPORTS:
THE MAQUOKETA BOYS GOLF TEAM BEAT CAMANCHE YESTERDAY AT CLINTON. MEDALIST FOR THE DAY WAS TY THEDE OF
MAQUOKETA WITH A 41. RUNNER-UP WAS MATT HANSEN WITH A 42.

THE CARDINAL GIRLS HOSTED WESTERN DUBUQUE AT THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY CLUB AND LOST.
