TUESDAY DAILY

THERE WAS NO MONDAY  DAILY YESTERDAY

THE NEW SABULA-SAVANNA BRIDGE (ABOVE, WITH OLD ONE STILL AT THE
SIDE OF IT)  IS CLOSED. IT HAS BEEN SINCE EARLY THIS MORNING AFTER A PROBLEM WAS FOUND BY THE IOWA D.O.T. NEAR THE SMALL BRIDGE JUST NORTH OF SABULA.    A SETTLING PROBLEM.
AN INSPECTION WAS DONE THIS MORNING AND THIS AFTERNOON, THE
D.O.T. ANNOUNCED THAT THE SMALL BRIDGE, SCHEDULED FOR REPLACEMENT, CAN NOT BE OPENED AGAIN.    SO NOW, THE REPLACEMENT
SCHEDULE OF IT IS BEING ACCELERATED AND THE CURRENT BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL THE NEW ONE IS IN PLACE.   THAT SMALL BRIDGE JUST NORTH OF SABULA ALLOWS TRAFIC TO GO OVER THE BIG NEW ONE WHICH OPENED LATE LAST YEAR.
THE CLOSING OF THE OLD SMALL BRIDGE ALSO CLOSES THAT NEW ONE AND
THIS MEANS ANYONE WANTING TO CROSS THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER,  FROM
NOW UNTIL AT LEAST LATE MAY, WILL HAVE TO GO DOWN SOUTH ON HIGHWAY 67 AND CROSS THE RIVER ON ILLINOIS 84, FROM CLINTON.
BAD NEWS FOR LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO USE THAT NEW BRIDGE TO GO
ACROSS THE MISSISSIPPI BETWEEN SAVANNA AND SABULA.
