THURSDAY DAILY REPORT

FLURRIES TODAY...SUNNY LATE THIS AFTERNOON...AND COLD.

THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD HAS HIRED AN ARCHITECT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL FOR OPTIONS FOR HEATING AND
AIR CONDITIONING.  COST OF THE STUDY, $25,900.    A GEO THERMAL
SYSTEM WILL BE LOOKED AT TOO.   BRGG'S ELEMENTARY HAS IT.
BOARD PRESIDENT MIKE HAYWARD SAID THE BUILDING IS IN GOOD SHAPE BUT AN EVALUATION IS NECESSARY BEFORE FUTURE DECISIONS ARE MADE.

FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO THE MAQUOKETA PUBLIC LIBRARY AT 10 YESTERDAY MORNING, TO CHECK ON A REPORT OF A GAS SMELL.
BLICK HILLS ENERGY WAS CALLED AND FOUND A LEAK IN THE FURNACE.
FIREMEN WERE AT THE SCENE A FEW MINUTES.

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AT CEDAR RAPIDS, THE BELLEVUE MARQUETTE CATHOLIC VOLLEYBALL TEAM LOST THEIR STATE TOURNAMENT
MATCH 3 GAMES TO 1.    THEY LOST THE FIRST 2 BY BIG MARGINS, THEN WON THE 3RD,  30 TO 28 AND LOST THE 4TH, 25 TO 23.    VERY EXCITING
FOR THE FANS AND KMAQ LISTENERS.

THE MAQUOKETA POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A THEFT.    VINCEN
MILKULSKI, AGE 53, OF ALLEN STREET IN MAQUOKETA REPORTED
WEDNESDAY AFTENOON THAT A 45-CALIBER HANDGUN WAS STOLEN.

TYLER JAMES FOSTER, AGE 16, OF MARION, DIED NOVEMBER 3RD.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS, GILBERT AND AGNES MILOTA OF MAQUOKETA.

THE FIRE WAS AT THE COAST TO COAST STORE JUST SOUTH OF WHERE KMAQ WAS LOCATED UPSTAIRS AND DID EXTENSIVE SMOKE  AND WATER DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING.

THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL  (AND AREA)    FOOTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL SEASON IS OVER AND NOW KMAQ IS MAKING PLANS TO COVER BASKETBALL AND WRESTLING, BOTH  STARTING UP IN A COUPLE WEEKS.
