THE WEATHER HAS BEEN A LITTLE STRANGE TODAY.    WE WERE NOT EXPECTING RAIN, BUT HAVE HAD SOME AND THEREFORE, AS OF MID-AFTERNOON, THE HIGH HAS BEEN ONLY 70.   TOMORROW, UP INTO THE 80'S AND SUNDAY, 92.   THE SUN IS BACK AND WE MAY SEE THE TEMP GO
UP LATER THIS AFTERNOON.

SOME MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS WANT TO SEE MORE
IMPROVEMENTS TO THE MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY CENTER, ACROSS FROM GOODENOW FIELD.    THE CITY  HAS RESUMED MANAGEMENT OF THE CENTER FROM THE MAQUOKETA YMCA.      LOTS OF IMPROVEMENTS  ARE BEING TALKED ABOUT.   IT NEEDS A LOT OF WORK!  I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED.

TWO BARNS BURNED DOWN YESTERDAY ON PERSHING ROAD, OWNED BY JOSH POLL.     IT WAS A WINDY DAY.     FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO THE
SCENE AROUND 2:30 YESTERDAY AFTERNOON TO PUT OUT THE FIRE AND
THEN CALLED A 2ND TIME AROUND 5:00 WHEN THE WIND SPREAD THE FIRE TO A SECOND BUILDING.

POLICE BLOTTER:
LOREN ROCKWELL REPORTED YESTERDAY MORNING THAT SOMEONE HAD
USED A WEED WACKER TO CUT THE LETTERS F AND U IN THE YARD.

LEVI LARKEY REPORTED LAST NIGHT THAT WHILE HE WAS FISHING AT THE HURSTVILLE FISHING POND, SOMEONE TOOK A PLANO BOX OF TACKLE FROM THE BED OF HIS TRUCK,  WITH OVER $500 WORTH OF LURES.

WE HAVE BEEN THERE TWICE.   NICE MENU TO CHOOSE FROM AND THE
FOOD WAS VERY GOOD.   EFFECTIVE
YESTERDAY, THEY WERE ABLE TO
SELL BEER, ETC.
THE BAR IS TO THE REAR OF THE
NORTH DINING ROOM.   NICE INSIDE
DECOR....ALL  NEW, INCLUDING
KITCHEN.   I'M SURE THEY WILL
EVENTUALLY HAVE PERMANENT
OUTSIDE SIGNS.   AND EVERYONE IS HOPING THEY WILL PAINT THE UPPER PART OF THE BUILDING TO MATCH THE
BOTTOM COLOR.    WHEN I FIRST CAME TO TOWN IN 1958 IT WAS "CARSON'S DRUG STORE ON CORNER" FEATURING A POPULAR RAZZBERRY BAR.
