TUESDAY DAILY REPORT

BRIGHT, SUNNY DAY BUT 20 DEGREES COOLER THAN YESTERDAY'S 66.    RAIN IS COMING.    BEST DAY STILL COMING THIS WEEK WILL BE SATURDAY WITH SUNNY SKIES AND HIGH OF 50.

BIG STORY TODAY....A MAQUOKETA POLICE OFFICER WAS SHOT JUST BEFORE 3 THIS MORNING.   HERE IS SHERI MELVOLD'S STORY:
PHOTO OF AARON SCOTT, GIVEN OUT THIS MORNING AT THE 11 O'CLOCK PRESS CONFERENCE HERE IN MAQUOKETA.     THEY HAVE NOT RELEASED THE NAME OF POLICE OFFICER, BUT YOU CAN EMAIL ME AND I'LL REPLY.

A BARN WAS DESTROYED ALONG WITH NUMEROUS ROUND BALES AROUND 3:30 YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AT THE LARRY SCHNOOR FARM AT 5031
151ST STREET.    A SHED AND EQUIPMENT INSIDE THE LARGE BARN WAS
LOST IN THE BLAZE.  THERE WAS A CAR IN THE SHED TOO.     WHEN FIREMEN ARRIVED, THE BARN WAS FULLY INVOLVED.      FIREMEN SPENT NEARLY 5 HOURS AT THE FIRE.    AN ADJACENT CATTLE PEN WAS DESTROYED BUT THERE WERE NO ANIMALS INSIDE.     THE CAUSE IS UNKNOWN.   FIRE CHIEF MARK BECK SAID HIGH WINDS HAMPERED FIREFIGHTER'S EFFORTS TO
PUT OUT THE FIRE.   IN FACT, HE SAID THE WIND WAS THE  WORST HE HAS
EVER SCENE WHILE FIGHTING A FIRE.

MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC UTILITY BOARD MEMBERS WILL BE
LOOKING FOR A NEW DISTRIBUTION  SUPERINTENDENT.    JOEL YANDA, WHO HAS BEEN WITH MMEU FOR MANY YEARS, SUBMITTED HIS RESIGNATION
LAST WEEK AND WILL WORK FOR A FIRM IN KANSAS CITY THAT SELLS
ELECTRIC PRODUCTS TO INVESTOR OWNED MUNICIPAL AND COOPERATIVE
UTILITIES.    HIS LAST DAY OF WORK WILL BE APRIL 25TH.    YANDA HAS
PREVIOUSLY WORKED IN KANSAS CITY.

WANT A LOOK INSIDE THE YMCA?    I TOOK SOME PHOTOS THERE YESTERDAY AND YOU CAN SEE THEM ON THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY
