THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF JACKSON COUNTY RECENTLY MET AND AWARDED GRANTS TOTALING JUST OVER $40,000.
MAQUOKETA WILL RECEIVE $5,000 FOR THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER FOR A SOUND BOARD.
THE COMMUNITY CUPBOARD $5,000 FOR FOOD AND SUPPLIES.
THE FRIENDS OF JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION FOR AN OUTDOOR
CLASSROOM STREAM NORTH OF MAQUOKETA, OUSIDE THE INTERPRETIVE
CENTER, $4,000.

TWO MOTORCYCLES COLLIDED SOUTH BY THE WAL MART STORE
AROUND 7:30 LAST NIGHT.    BOTH WERE FROM DUBUQUE.
WESLEY BOWERS, AGE 18, OF DUBUQUE HIT THE CYCLE OF CODY DRAKE,
AGE 20, OF DUBUQUE AND THE IMPACT CAUSED BOTH TO BE THROWN
OFF THEIR CYCLE.     BOWERS WAS TAKEN TO THE  HOSPITAL IN
MAQUOKETA WITH POSSIBLE INJURIES.   ABOUT $2,000 DAMAGE TO EACH CYCLE, ONE A HONDA AND THE OTHER A YAMAHA.

ERICA BARKER OF MAQUOKETA WILL CLOSE HER DANCE STUDIO IN MAQUOKETA AND TEACH ZUMBA AND  TURBO KICK AT THE MAQUOKETA AREA FAMILY YMCA THIS FALL.
