JACKSON COUNTY AUDITOR M. JOELL DEPPE SAID THEIR OFFICE HAS ALREADY RECEIVED 800  REQUESTS FOR ABSENTEE BALLOTS FOR THE
NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION.    ABSENTEE BALLOTS MAY BE CAST
BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 25TH.

NIGHT OCTOBER 14TH AT 7 P.M. AT THE MAQUOKETA CITY  HALL.
IT WILL BE BROADCAST ON KMAQ AND OUR WEB SITE.


TWO CAR ACCIDENT YESTERDAY ON 200TH AVENUE.   ANTHONY HOEFELMEYER, AGE 35, OF ANDREW WAS REAR-ENDED BY A CAR
DRIVEN BY LINDA MANNING, AGE 54, OF MAQUOKETA. MINOR INJURIES TO BOTH DRIVERS.     MANNING'S TRUCK, $3,000 IN DAMAGES AND HOEFELMEYER'S TRUCK, $7,000.  

STONES WERE KNOCKED DOWN IN MT. HOPE CEMETERY ON THE FAR
WEST ROW.   AND,
THE ANDREW COUNTRY MART REPORTED A $38 GAS DRIVE-OFF.

DONALD SCHLOTFELT, AGE 82, DIED SATURDAY IN DURANGO, COLORADO.
HE WAS MAQUOKETA'S HEAD BASKETBALL COACH IN THE LATE 50'S AND
EARLY 60'S.   HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE   SHIRLIE, TWO DAUGHTERS, ONE SON AND A SISTER.   THE FUNERAL WILL BE FRIDAY AND THE ERTEL             FUNERAL HOME IN CORTEZ, COLORADO, IS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS.

THE JACKSON COUNTY FARM BUREU IS CELEBRATING ITS 96TH ANNIVERSARY IN SEPTEMBER.

IN VOLLEYBALL LAST NIGHT, SOLON (#1 IN THE STATE, 3-A) DEFEATED
MAQUOKETA 3-0.

RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY AT 4 YESTERDAY AFTERNOON IN DEWITT.
THE LOCATION IS WHERE FOR MANY YEARS THE CANDLE LIGHT RESTAURANT WAS LOCATED.      THE FOUR WITH THE SCISSORS:  SUPERVISOR JOHN STASZEWSKI, DEWITT MAYOR DON THILTGEN, SUPERVISOR JILL DAVISSON AND SUPERVISOR BRIAN SCHMIDT.
 SUPERVISOR BRIAN SCHMIDT OF DELMAR AND THE SHERIFF
OF CLINTON COUNTY RICK LINCOLN STAND AT THE ENTRANCE.
 IT WAS A 3 PHASE, 3 YEAR PROJECT.   THE LARGE GARAGE ABOVE, BASICALLY FOR SHERIFF'S  DEPARTMENT SQUAD CARS,  STILL NEEDS TO BE FINISHED.    SHEETS CONSTRUCTION OF MAQUOKETA
WAS THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR FOR THE ENTIRE COMPLEX.    A REAL
ASSET FOR DEWITT AND A REAL CONVENIENCE FOR THE WESTERN HALF OF
CLINTON COUNTY RESIDENT.
