PARTY SUNNY DAY....60 DEGREE WEATHER THESE DAYS.

A TORNADO HIT DELMAR EARLIER THIS WEEK, WITH MOST DAMAGE AT ONE
FARM WEST OF DELMAR. NO ONE INJURED.

THE CITY COUNCIL AT A "COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE" MEETING LAST NIGHT
(NOT A MEETING WHERE A VOTE COULD BE TAKEN) AGREED TO PUT
$1.5 MILLION DOLLARS TOWARD THE ARC PROJECT, CONSISTING OF A
NEW INDOOR POOL, GYM, EXERCISE WALKWAY AND WORKOUT AREA.
THE TOTAL COST WILL BE $5 MILLION. MOST CALLERS THIS MORNING
ON KMAQ'S "JUST TALK" SHOW WERE AGAINST THE CITY DOING THIS.
I'VE ALWAYS SAID, ITS A BAD IDEA FOR A BAD LOCATION. BUT, WE'LL SEE AND I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED.

GOT A NICE EMAIL FROM FORMER MAQUOKETA RESIDENT, JOHN EGLI.
WORKED IN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND THEN RETIRED FROM THE IOWA DOT.
NOT SURE WHERE THEY ARE LIVING NOW, BUT THINK IT IS IN WASHINGTON, IOWA. WHAT PROMPTED HIS EMAIL WAS THE STORY ABOUT THE JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT PLAN TO ADD A DOG FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT. HE SAID HIS SON, PAUL, IS A K-NINE OFFICER IN FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE. AND HIS DOG RECENTLY RETIRED, AND HE IS WORKING WITH HIS SECOND DOG NOW. JOHN SAYS HE HOPES THEY GET THE DOG IN JACKSON COUNTY. BY THE WAY, THEY ARE TAKING DONATIONS TO GET THE DOG...AND CHECKS CAN BE MADE OUT TO THE JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AND SEND TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER, MAQUOKETA, IOWA, 52060.
JUST MARK ON THE CHECK THAT IT IS FOR THE DOG FUND.

THE MAQUOKETA LIBRARY IS MISSING 108 VHS TAPES AND WANTS THEM BACK.
IT COST NOTHING TO CHECK OUT MOVIES. THOSE MISSING ARE VALUED AT ABOUT $1,800.....MOSTLY CLASSIC FILMS. APPARENTLY THEY HAVE PUT IN PLACE A BETTER SYSTEM TO PREVENT HIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.
