THURSDAY DAILY REPORT

IT IS 4:30 P.M. AS I  WRITE THIS AND THE SUN JUST CAME OUT AND IS BRIGHTLY SHINING IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA.   FINIALLY!.

GOT A NEWS RELEASE THIS AFTERNOON FROM LARRY "BUCK" KOOS,  ONE OF THE THREE JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISORS.    IT READS:
THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT ARMED COURTHOUSE SECURITY PERSONNEL WILL BE PATROLLING THE JACKSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE STARTING IMMEDIATELY.   THE SUPERVISORS AFTER DISCUSSION WITH THE JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF, RUSS KETTMAN, WORKED OUT A PLAN TO PROVIDE THE ARMED SECURITY SOONER THAN  HAD BEEN ANTICIPATED.     LARRY "BUCK" KOOS, BOARD CHAIRMAN SAID, "THE SUPERVISORS ARE  HAPPY WITH THE NEW ARRANGEMENT AND HOPE THAT EVERYONE EFFECTED, INCLUDING THE PUBLIC AND COURTHOUSE EMPLOYEES, WILL FEEL SAFER AND MORE SECURE WITH THE ARMED PRESENCE IN THE BUILDING".

IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION AND OUTREACH WILL BE OFFERING
A BASIC-BABY SITTING COURSE FOR STUDENTS IN 5TH GRADE AND ABOVE.
DATES, FEB 12 AND 15.   COST $20, WHICH INCLUDES A MEAL AND SNACKS.
FORMS ARE IN SCHOOLS OR THE EXTENSION OFFICE IN MAQUOKETA.

TOMORROW NIGHT AS  MAQUOKETA  HOSTS DEWITT FOR A GIRL-BOY
DOUBLE-HEADER.    AND IT WILL BE CAKE AUCTION NIGHT, SPONSORED
BY THE BOOSTER CLUB.    BOTH GAMES WILL BE BROADCAST ON
KMAQ AND OUR WEB HOME PAGE, STARTING AT 5:50 WITH MATT CLARK
AT THE PLAY BY PLAY MIKE.
