SUNNY BUT COOL TODAY.

THE JACKSON COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY CONVENTION WILL BE HELD SATURDAY,
MARCH 15TH AT THE MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY CENTER. REGISTRATION FROM 8 UNTIL 9 A.M. AND THE CALL TO ORDER WILL BE AT 9 A.M. THERE WILL BE A $5
REGISTRATION FEE. ANY QUESTIONS, CALL THE PARTY CHAIRMAN, DAVID

A FORMER AREA EDUCATOR WILL BE HONOREDAT THIS WEEKEND'S BOY'S STATE
BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. BOB CARDONI, WHO SPENT SOME TIME IN MAQUOKETA AS THE SCHOOL'S VO-AG INSTRUCTOR WILL RECEIVE AN ADMINISTRATION AWARD FROM THE IOWA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.
CARDONI TAUGHT IN MAQUOKETA IN 1979 AND 1980. HE IS NOW RETIRED AND LIVES IN NEW LONDON.

THE HEADLINER FOR THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIR WILL BE COUNTRY ARTISTS,
LONE STAR. THAT'S RIGHT, LONE STAR. THEY SHOULD BRING UM TO THE FAIR
SATURDAY, JULY 26TH. NIGHT RANGER WILL OPEN THE SHOW AND TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE APRIL 1ST. THE FAIR STARTS WEDNESDAY, JULY 23RD WITH THE PARADE AND AFTER THE PARADE, THE THREE HILLS BULLRIDING SHOW.
AND AGAIN THIS YEAR, THERE WILL BE A STOCK CAR RACES, THE TRUCK AND TRACTOR PULL AND THE NIGHT OF DESTRUCTIONS WILL BE SUNDAY NIGHT.

MY FRIEND, JIM WESTHOFF, AGE 77, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED THIS MORNING.
HE WAS RETIRED FROM BEING PLANT MANAGER OF SWISS VALLEY FARMS IN MAQUOKETA AND AFTER RETIRING, HE LIVED IN DELMAR AND WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN RENOVATING THE DELMAR DEPOT. HIS FULL OBITUARY CAN BE READ AT
