THE WEEKEND STARTED WITH SOME LIGHT RAIN FRIDAY NIGHT, AND THEN SATURDAY AND SUNDAY NO RAIN AND NICE, ESPECIALLY SUNDAY.
TODAY, PARTLY SUNNY AND IN UPPER 70'S.

BAD ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 61 AROUND 6 LAST NIGHT NORTH OF MAQUOKETA BY OTTER CREEK. THE SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT INVOLVED A MADISON FAMILY OF FIVE, ON FAMILY VACATION GOING TO CALIFORNIA. THE DRIVER, THE 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WITH A RECENTLY ISSUED DRIVER'S PERMIT, LOST CONTROL.
THE MOTHER AND DAD ARE DEAD, AGE 50 AND 44. THE THREE KIDS, 14, 13 AND
10 IN THE HOSPITAL.

A BLACK BEAR WAS WATCHED IN A TREE ALONG THE BELLEVUE-CASCADE
ROAD SATURDAY NIGHT. THE MEDIUM-SIZED BEAR WAS WATCHED FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS BY AROUND 100 PEOPLE. THE BEAR WOKE UP, CAME DOWN THE TREE AND TOOK OFF WALKING. THERE WERE OTHER SIGHTINGS EARLIER AT SUGAR CREEK NEAR PRESTON. THE 200 POUND BLACK BEAR IS NOT A THREAT FOR HUMANS OR LIVESTOCK AND LIVES OFF SEEDS AND BERRIES. I MAY HAVE A PHOTO OF IT THIS WEEK ON THIS REPORT.
