A MAQUOKETA LONGTIME PHARMACIST RECEIVED A SERIOUS HAND

EXPLODED OUT THE BOTTOM OF GUN AND INJURED THE TWO MIDDLE
FINGERS ON HIS LEFT HAND. HE WAS TAKEN TO A MADISON WISCONSIN
HOSPITAL, WHERE HAND SPECIALISTS SOUGHT TO SAVE THE FINGERS.
I HAVE NOT HEARD THE END RESULT, BUT HE MAY HAVE LOST ALL OR PART OF THE FINGERS.

USING T.I.F. FUNDS TO PAY OFF THE CITY'S ONE MILLION DOLLAR LOAN ON THE
YMCA DREW SOME HEATED CONVERSATION AT THIS WEEK'S CITY COUNCIL
MEETING BY TWO COUNCILMAN. NEIL MOREHEAD PROPOSED USING THE TIF
FUNDS AND ED TURNEY REMINDED HIM THAT OVER 600 PEOPLE HAD SIGNED
A PETITION BEFORE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE YMCA THAT CALLED FOR
NO TAX PAYER MONEY BE USED FOR THE YMCA CONSTRUCTION.
THE CITY GAVE A LOAN OF $1 MILLION THAT WAS TO BE PAID BACK BY HOTEL-MOTEL MONEY AND LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX MONEY. HOWEVER,
THIS MONEY HAS BEEN DIRECTED TO FUND THE OPERATING BUDGET OF THE YMCA DO TO SHORTFALLS IN REVENUES. THE COUNCIL DID VOTE TO PROCEED AHEAD
WITH T.I.F. TAX REVENUE, SO WE WILL HEAR MORE ABOUT THIS IN THE NEAR
FUTURE.

DON'T FORGET, THE MAQUOKETA-DEWITT FOOTBALL GAME IS ON THE KMAQ
WEB SITE AT 7:25 TONIGHT.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.
