THURSDAY DAILY REPORT

RAINING THIS MORNING EARLY WHEN I CAME TO WORK AND THEN RAINED
ON AND OFF AFTER... AND A LITTLE AFTER 3 THIS AFTERNOON, A HAILSTORM
CAME UP  REAL FAST....HIGH WINDS AND QUARTER-INCH HAIL FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES.    WE HAD A REPORT OF THE WIND FLIPPING TWO SEMI TRUCKS ON 61 DURING THE STORM.   THE RESCUE SQUAD WAS CALLED!   NOW AT 4, RAIN HAS STOPPED BUT WE ARE AWAITING SOME SNOW SOON AND SOME MORE OVERNIGHT....A FORCAST FOR ABOUT AN INCH.   TOMORROW, SUNNY AND IN 20'S AND NO RAIN OR SNOW.   SOME PARTS OF IOWA GETTING A LOT
OF SNOW.

BIG STORY TODAY....FIRE AT THE BELLEVUE FIRE STATION.    WHEN THE POLICE ARRIVED, THEY SAW SMOKE ROLLING OFF THE RAFTERS JUST BEFORE 7 THIS MORNING.   BELLEVUE CALLED FIREMEN FROM SPRINGBROOK, PRESTON AND MAQUOKETA TO ASSIST IF NEEDED.
THE FIRE WAS CONTAINED TO THE APPARATUS ROOM AND THE BACK WALL, AN AREA THAT WAS RECENTLY REMODELED ACCORDING TO CITY ADMINISTRATOR LORAS HERRIG.    SOME EQUIPMENT WAS DAMAGED.
NO ONE WAS INJURED, THE CAUSE HAS STILL TO BE DETERMINED AND
THE BELLEVUE FIRE DEPARTMENT IS STILL FULLY OPERATIONAL.  BELLEVUE WILL BE IN THE MAIN TV HEADLINES TONIGHT AND TOMORROW MORNING.

THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD MONDAY MORNING WILL INTERVIEW FIVE CANDIDATES FOR THE JOB OF SUPERINTENDENT.

DEWITT HAS 4 WRESTLERS AT THE STATE MEET IN DES  MOINES.
ALL 4 WRESTLED TWICE THIS MORNING.    THERE WAS ONE VICTORY
OUT OF THE  8 MATCHES AND HE WRESTLES AGAIN AT 10 TOMORROW MORNING.   IT IS GREAT TO GET TO STATE....BUT THAT IS WHERE THE
COMPETITION IS VERY HARD.    DR. PAUL KOOB DID HIS USUAL FINE JOB
OF DESCRIBING THE MATCHES ON KMAQ.

THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS LOST THEIR TOURNAMENT GAME LAST NIGHT
AND  HAVE ENDED THE SEASON.

THE MAQUOKETA BOYS HAVE ONE MORE REGULAR GAME TOMORROW NIGHT BEFORE TOURNAMENT TIME.

RUMOR OF A WELL KNOWN BUSINESS BEING SOLD.  I'LL CHECK IT OUT.

SPRING IS A MONTH AWAY.
IT WAS 12 YEARS AGO THAT MAQUOKETA HAD THE HUGE HAILSTORM THAT CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO CARS AND ROOFS....IN SEPTEMBER OF 2002.
