IT WAS THE 2ND ANNUAL AND SPONSORED BY KMAQ AND THE LOCAL ACCESS TV CHANNEL.

THE CITIZEN OF THE WEEK THIS WEEK IS LYNN BOPES, THE NEW MENTAL HEALTH COORDINATOR
FOR JACKSON COUNTY. SHE HAS WORKED IN MAQUOKETA FOR 23 YEARS FOR THE GANNON CENTER.

THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA HAS TERMINATED THE EMPLOYMENT OF TERRY BRONSON, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS. HE HAS BEEN AT THAT POSITION FOR OVER 6 YEARS. THE ACTION WAS TAKEN FOR TWO REASONS: HE VIOLATED THE CITY'S SPENDING POLICY AND THERE WAS A MORALE PROBLEM WITHIN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT. HE CAN REQUEST A HEARING BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL AND MUST DO THAT WITHIN 30 DAYS. DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE RANDY CROUCH HAS BEEN NAMED ACTING DIRECTOR.

IN COURT NEWS: KURTIS FELDERMAN, AGE 23, OF MAQUOKETA WAS ARRESTED AROUND 1:15 SATURDAY MORNING IN MAQUOKETA FOR OWI. HE WAS ALSO SIGHTED WITH AN OPEN CONTAINER VIOLATION.

NO ON INJURED IN A TWO CAR ACCIDENT IN MAQUOKETA AROUND 7 LAST NIGHT. ONE DRIVER WAS JONI HUSEMAN, AGE 25, OF MAQUOKETA AND THE OTHER DRIVER WAS LARRY MCCLOY,JUNIIOR, AGE 26, OF MAQUOKETA.

MAQUOKETA VOLUNTEER FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO A CAR FIRE SATURDAY AFTERNOON. CHAD VEACH WAS OPERATING HIS CAR ON PERSHING ROAD AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE.

A BIRTH. LAURA STANTON AND DEAN KLOFT ARE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN FEBRUARY 5TH AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL.
