LOTS OF SNOW MELTED OVER THE WEEKEND. BOTH YESTERDAY AND TODAY, EVERYONE ENJOYED THE JANUARY THAW. TODAY'S HIGH WAS 50, ONE UNDER THE RECORD FOR THIS DAY. TOMORROW IN 40'S WITH FOG AGAIN AND WEDNESDAY, BACK DOWN TO THE 30'S.

THE MAQUOEKETA GIRLS AND BOYS BASKETBALL TEAMS BOTH LOST TO WATERLOO COLUMBUS FRIDAY NIGHT. THE GIRL'S GAME WENT INTO OVERTIME. BOTH TEAMS PLAY WESTERN DUBUQUE TOMORROW NIGHT.

SHORT CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT.

RICH TAYLOR DOWN IN FLORIDA EMAILED ME TO SAY THAT HIS SISTER, KIM TAYLOR LESTER DIED DEC. 20TH IN FLORIDA, AFTER A LONG BATTLE WITH MS. SHE ATTENDED MAQUOKETA SCHOOLS UNTIL MOVING WITH HER PARENTS TO FLORIDA DURING HER SOPHOMORE YEAR. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER PARENTS, FLOYD AND MAXINE TAYLOR, FORMERLY OF MAQUOEKTA AND LONGTIME RESIDENTS OF FLORIDA. ALSO SURVIVED BY ONE DAUGHTER, COURTNEY, AGE 18, WHO IS ATTENDING COVENANT COLLEGE IN GEORGIA.
