NICE WEATHER OVER THE WEEKEND, AND EARLY THIS MORNING, A HALF-INCH OF RAIN IN A THUNDERSTORM. TODAY, PARTLY SUNNY AND SOME RAIN LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND RAIN ALSO IN THE FORECAST FOR TONIGHT, TOMORROW AND TOMORROW NIGHT. NICE WEATHER AGAIN WEDNESDAY.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT.

THE 131ST. ANNUAL COMMENCEMENT FOR THE MCHS SENIORS WAS YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AT THE NEW HIGH SCHOOL GYM. 120 SENIORS RECEIVED THEIR
DIPLOMA. THE TOP TEN STUDENTS: #10, STEPHANIE DAVISON.....
#9, JESSA GOMBERT....#8, DILLON O'CONNELL....#7JORDAN STREET....#6 ADDIE
FELTEN....THE CLASS SALUTATORIAN WITH A GRADE POINT OF 3.999 WAS THAN
KILBURG. THERE WERE 4-VALDECTORIANS WITH PERFECT 4.0 GPA. THEY
ARE BETH AND MEGAN ENGEL, TWIN DAUGHTERS OF DEAN AND JENNY ENGEL.
CALEB MILLER, SON OF HERB AND KATHY MILLER AND SAMANTHA VEACH, DAUGHTER OF PAT AND CINDY VEACH.

AT A SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING FRIDAY LATE AFTERNOON, IT WAS THE
GENERAL CONSENSUS OF THE BOARD THAT THE DISTRICT SHOULD COMBINE
AND REALIGN CURRENT ADMINITRATORS TO FILL THE ASSISTANT HIGH SCHOOL PRINICPAL'S POSITION.

I'M RUNNING LATE. THIS WILL HAVE TO BE IT FOR TODAY. HAVE A GOOD WEEK.

DEAN AND KAREN TILTON ARE VISITING FRIENDS THIS WEEK IN MAQUOKETA.
WE HAD A LITTLE PARTY FOR THEM AT NANCY'S HOUSE LAST NIGHT. HERE,
SHOWN WITH MY SON DAVE. DEAN CAME TO MAQUOKETA IN THE 60'S TO
BE HIGH SCHOOL INSTRUMENTAL BAND INSTRUCTOR AT MCHS AND LATER
LEFT TEACHING TO OPEN A MUSIC STORE IN MAQUOKETA, ON THE CORNER OF
MAIN AND PLATT. HE RETIRED SEVERAL YEARS AGO AS NATIONAL SALES MANAGER OF GREAT AMERICA COMPANY, A NATIONWIDE COMPANY PRODUCING COOKBOOKS FOR FUND RAISING. KAREN WAS SPEECH TEACHER AT MCHS FOR OVER 30 YEARS. THEY NOW LIVE IN THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA. THIS PAST YEAR,
THEY STARTED AN IOWA CLUB AT THE VILLAGES AND IT HAS BEEN BUILDING,
WITH OVER 250 MEMBERS. SON TED AND FAMILY (TWO KIDS) LIVE IN COLORADO AND SON TRENT AND FAMILY(4 KIDS) LIVE IN MICHIGAN. SO, THEY HAVE 6 GRANDCHILDREN. DEAN AND I WERE PARTNERS IN THE FORMER KFC RESTAURANT IN MAQUOKETA FOR TWENTY YEARS.
